A lot of KKK types are more into gun clubs and neo-confederate get ups these days. Also, it seems like a lot of ex-military whites are klan sympathizers. I think McVeigh moved from New York to some southern state like Arkansas or Tennessee to associate with klansmen and other militia types.
That is probably why a lot of people outside the south are reluctant to hire southern whites or give them an opportunity in most places. I mean, Ole Miss had klan rallies and sympathizers show up to their football games in 2010. Now they have the Alt Right, which has mainstreamed their worldview to some degree.

Morris Dees and the SPLC brought and won some huge civil lawsuit cases back in the early 80's and 90's that effectively broke the KKK's back nationally.

That's why the Dems had to move onto the "Alt Right" and "Nazis" as the new boogeyman. KKK wasn't having the effect they wanted.

That is why my company holds fundraisers to donate to the SPLC. They do excellent work at not only exposing the tactics in the south, but also pursuing social injustices like institutional racism down there.
