The GOP was able to at least get Roe off the books and the issue of abortion pushed back to the states.

Unfortunately it has not worked out for them. All three pro-life initiatives (KS, KY, and MT) have failed, while all three Dem-supported pro-choice ones (CA, MI, VT) have passed. And a recent poll indicates that 68% of unmarried women consider "reproductive rights" their #1 issue.

So here's the dilemma. If the GOP continues to oppose abortion (even with limits) they lose the "suburban slut" vote to the Dems (and, to a lesser extent, the Libertarians).

BUT ... if they abandon it, the evangelical vote (for the most part) will sit out (they can't really go anywhere else).

So what do they do?

Politically, the suburban slut vote probably far outweighs the evangelical vote.

Morally, abortion as birth control disgusts me.

I have to have the ability to kill these babies!

My body, my choice…

I know it’s not very Christian… but the things I’d like to happen to people who think like this could make a new Saw movie.

Sometimes doing the right thing doesn't sit well with people. If they are principled, they'll stay the course.

What is amazing however is that the Dems are in lockstep. GOP factions are splintering up everywhere. Look at this freaking board as an example.

"No f Trump Desantis is the man!"
"No f RINO Desantis!"

How fricking selfish

Not sure why we should be surprised. Society has been teaching women that they’re great and special and strong and brave for the simple fact that they have a womb for a couple generations now.

I think this issue was huge yesterday, but won't big that big of a deal in the future. Michigan put a constitutional amendment on the books, so that's resolved here.

I'm beginning to think they timed the decision to coincide with this election.

Kemp signed the heart beat bill in Georgia and championed it, and the Karens love him.

If you’re pro-life don’t get an abortion… it’s that simple. One side trying to legislate its morals on the other side is a losing formula every time.

You may not agree with it, but stay out of it.

Support choice up to a certain week #...because the polls vastly support NO abortion after a certain time.

It's not a pro choice/ban argument...and they need to have the balls to explain their position, because MOST people do NOT support 7,8,9 month abortions.

Sounds like inflation is too low

I hate to say it but there's bigger fish to fry that these sluts don't realize in their self-centered life if that's the case.

If the GOP lost this demographic forever, they're done.

Welcome perpetual Democrat rule

I believe this is how most people aside form the ultra christian warriors think.

I'm a christian and I think abortion is a disgusting practice right up there with slavery and medical experiments on the mentally challenged(Which did happen in this country in the 20's & 30's, oddly enough with the help of German doctors and scientist)

But I digress. I'm happy to let states decide and keep it out of the fed's wheel house. Washington Conservative politicians would do best to let it lie at the state level and quite picking the scab.
