BREAKING: The Secret Service declined to interview 500 suspects in the ‘cocaine mystery’ at the White House.
Dude. It was like $35 worth of cocaine. About the price to get a large pizza and a couple of soft drinks delivered.
Frankly, if I walked into a police station tomorrow with $35 of cocaine and tossed it on the floor and sat down in front of it until someone noticed, I sorta doubt the police would even bother to write me a citation. They would probably toss it in the garbage and tell me to get lost.
If they did cite me, what would the penalty be? I highly doubt any prosecutor would even bother with pressing charges.

Oh yeah, you’d get written up for that little stunt. Mostly because they be rather offended by the unheedful, disrespectful behavior. They’re a proud bunch for the most part. You’d be arrested, booked, maybe be lucky enough to be in a jurisdiction that has a set schedule for of bond amounts for those lower level crimes, therefore able to bond out relatively quickly. I say relatively because they get a kick out of taking their merry time to do the paperwork necessary for you to become bondable.
Now, if there is no bond schedule, then you’re having a pallet party in a general population dorm. Legally they have 72 hours within which to bring you before a judge to set your bond. After another round of games with the jail personnel slow walking your paperwork, finally then can someone come bond you out.
At that point the reality sets in that it’s a little more serious than you originally anticipated. Leading you to the conclusion that “I think I should hire an attorney!” A few thousand dollars and a couple of months later, maybe then you receive your plea offer from the prosecutor, and the individual personality and “policy” of the prosecutor you randomly end up with determines whether you end up with a felony on your record or not. Yours may simply not like how you look and make best offer of felony probation. Or if I’m your attorney you probably end up with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia with a hundred dollar fine and that’s that.
But bottom line, I would advise not being caught with any felony narcotics, under any circumstances.

That dime bad you mentioned causes a lot of issues. How did it there with security measures in place? Was it a test run for something harmful as Anthrax? Which person(s) are there in these positions that are under the influence or are capable of blackmailing? These are just a couple of examples

Because they knew whose it was the moment it was left.

Does OP want them to spend a million investigating a dime bag in the common area?
They spent millions investigating a known Russian collusion hoax, so why not?
Also, it wasn’t found in a common area, you idiot.

If you want to track down and arrest grandma for walking into the capitol building then the answer is yes, I want them to spend millions investigating the dime bag in the common area.
