Exactly. But I graduated HS in 1984. It was required reading in my composition class.

You mean the editor is editing her writers? You can’t seriously compare that to disallowing free speech on social media?

It’s become abundantly clear that the US and Europe no longer share the same values or goals and thus should no longer be allied strategically.

Okay, but hold off on that. There is a turning in Europe and The UK. Let’s see how it goes first.

Expand the list and then start a new one of all the US military units no longer allowed to be deployed to the EU. Doesn’t seem like they are able to provide safe areas to host our troops anymore.

I mean, isn't that basically all of them?

No. It’s a very small minority that is successfully defying the demos - thus far.

Rubio: "global censorship-industrial complex"

I doubt this term will take root in the American lexicon, but I've seen some in the current Right that are equally silly.

France, England and Germany all arrest people for tweets. That's the big three, right?

I understand your sentiment but we need the bases around the world to head off foreign enemies. However those enemies are now containing some of those bases. We’ll be OK for now. But we have to withdraw I guarantee we will leave better than when “Biden” was in charge.

"I Disapprove of What You Say, But I Will Defend to the Death Your Right to Say It."

Voltaire

Today's Europeans are trying to destroy the enlightenment. Voltaire, Lafayette, Newton, Locke et al are spinning in their graves.

Maybe spend less time attacking freedom of speech and more time protecting it and your citizens.

Thank God for our Constitution and our Founding Fathers.

We only needed that when we had real allies we had to guarantee the safety of. Fake allies can defend themselves.

Our actual enemies cannot project force to our shores well enough to actually pose a threat to the mainland. We should not be deployed worldwide anymore.

... remember , about 6 years ago in the ToE thread there was a big reveal of a project near completion at MIT.
The project was developing a machine that could project your thoughts without your verbal input. There was a big discussion on this topic.

We are closer and closer to that point ...

Even the Chicoms don't try to claim jurisdiction over foreign speech.

Do you think the elites in those nations give up power without a revolution? I don’t.

We have our own house to put in order first.

We can be fine with bases in Sweden/ Finland, the three Baltic nations, Poland (the main deployment zone) and perhaps a future democratic Ukraine.

Centrally located, and keep the Western Europeans and Russia apart.

Go south to Egypt and Saudi. Swim to Diego Garcia. And coalesce S Korea, Japan, Nationalist China, the Philippines, and Vietnam.

Combine this with the Monroe Doctrine and there’s the Pax Americana protecting OUR trading partners for American prosperity.
