Zach. There are different levels of liberalism. That's the far left looney toons end of it.

But the UCLA administration agreed with them.

Skill based competition? But that's not what we are talking about, are we... When management types talk about "competing" they are talking about competing on price by lowering your living standard to those of the third world.

He’s a guy who went to Southern to get an engineering degree and has spent the past few years haunting this board and the OT lamenting that no decent engineering firm will hire him because he’s from SU.

I'm an engineer. Many, many openings since the Trump economy started. Where his degree came from is not the problem. I suspect that he interviews about the same way he posts. That would explain it.

I know two guys with physics degrees from less prestigious schools than tech doing really well in O&G services industry

Maybe you should get out of leesville?

And your premise is wrong, cultures have strengths and weaknesses. The cultures that are cloistered and shut off and stress their kids focus on individualism tend to suffer in the management development cycle. Individuals with High test scores and limited social skills can overcome and succeed in the people side if they work at it. If they stay rigid in their culture and overemphasize their personal performance over team building and interpersonal skills then they need to stay in the parts of business that allow that type of thinking.

I find second generation children of immigrants do fine, first generation may struggle outside of academia and test taking

I graduated from Tech with a BS in Physics. During my senior year of Physics I realized this isn't for me. I didn't like any of it (academia, research, teaching, etc.).

I decided I needed to get another degree in something more practical. I knew I could have applied to one of the vocational schools. Or possibly go get another BS (like accounting, etc).

But in my naivety, I decided "why not go to graduate school, it will take less time and it could open up other opportunities".

The physics degree makes employment a bit more difficult. See what it would take to get a BS in electrical engineering. I think that is your shortest path to a more marketable degree.

If universities and corporations only selected the best students/workers, the majority would be East Asian, Indian (dot), Middle Eastern, and White. Mostly in that order, especially tech industries.

So?

I think there us an underlying retardation that we give a frick about race.

Liberalism is projection, and your assumption that everybody is obsessed with race is the sign that you are the racist.

The economy is 200% thanks to Trump. I'm doing well now. But had I stayed st Tech or just went to a better school in general I would be better off.

It's not the economy's fault if your unemployable.

I love you (:nohomo: :nttawwt:), but this is some bullshite right here.

There have been many threads against affirmative action that bring up the fact that those of (particularly East) Asian ancestry get completely fricked by these policies.

quote:

We would get smarter immigrants but it inevitably would push native whites out as well as other Americans.

We need smarter immigrants who also want to assimilate. We can't handle immigrants who are ignorant AND do not want to assimilate. We're full up.

As it is, there is a segment of native born who are reluctant to assimilate, and yet another group who want to disassociate themselves with being American (and threaten to leave, but never seem to do so - those folks).

So, we're full up of folks that either have no skills and nothing to offer OR who do not want to be part of traditional America. Show me some skilled black, brown, yellow (or purple, mauve, plaid or :gasp: - even WHITE) folks who also want the traditional American dream? Let's set a reasonable number per year, screen those folks and go with that plan.

The open border isn't doing it for me.
