The Double Edge of Meritocracy

If universities and corporations only selected the best students/workers, the majority would be East Asian, Indian (dot), Middle Eastern, and White. Mostly in that order, especially tech industries.
I think there is an underlying tone that this board has that everything would be completely white people. That is not necessarily the case unless your talking about more rural swaths of the country. Also, there are plenty of uneducated (as in no degree/vocation) or whites who work in low skilled jobs that require associatites education.
(The OT board constantly talks about operator baws and sometimes "white trash", so this is relevant to the situation).
This would become more evident if we went with a Meritocratic system of immigration. We would get smarter immigrants but it inevitably would push native whites out as well as other Americans.
I'm willing to accept these as probabilities. Are you willing to accept that better immigration reform could become competitive?

And I think your premise is wrong. How difficult is it to understand that the MAJORITY of us see immigration through the lens of nationalism and what is to the good and benefit of our country, NOT SKIN COLOR. Personally, I would love a full on meritocracy, and let the results speak for themselves.
Secondly, what do you mean by “immigration reform”. Whatever your definition is, we have too many citizens that need our help as it is. We have failing schools, crumbling infrastructure, national debt to crush our grandchildren, drug epidemics, and on, and on. We are in no shape to take in more. Our energy and resources should be directed towards LIFTING UP our fellow countrymen. If ANYTHING, immigration should be strict needs-based meritocracy, otherwise shops closed.

I employed several hundred Middle Eastern guys at one time and they work hard mister. But critical thinking skills were not a characteristic. They had to have, yes, white supervision. Without it these was chaos. Shockingly primitive chaos.

What specific jobs? Engineers and IT professionals, yea. Sales, marketing, finance, HR that’s not the case.
I work at Salesforce. In my hub of 600 90% are white.
East Asian, Indian, Middle East just aren’t personable, as a majority, to be leading contenders for some jobs like sales and marketing. They are very good at STEM. But even IT techies still are made up with a bunch of whites and I expect that trend to grow as it’s becoming a hot undergrad degree.

You are very wrong, there would be very few Indian or middle eastern, do away with the H1B so big tech quits importing low paid workers to displace jobs Americans can do. You see a lot of foreign doctors engineers etc. now because you are seeing the .000001 smartest of billions of people who make it to the United States.

If I or my children are beaten for a job or admission or whatever by someone who is considered more competitive, at least there's something I can hope to do about it.

I am positive your thinking is wrong. I have never seen any implication here - or anywhere - that conservatives on here are supporting any policy based on 'whiteness' - AT ALL.
We do seem to disagree that putting whites and the low end of every opportunity because of nothing more than their 'whiteness' is wrong.
You misjudge people who are all for meritocracy if you believe otherwise.
My only restriction for admission of foreigner of any color would be whiter or not they were here for the purpose of doing harm to America - would not want some blond haired blue eyed genius NAZIs or USSR commies to have any access - AT ALL.
And no - I do not want hordes of uneducated backward cultured parasites invading our country in mass waves illegally and dispersing themselves into the interior anomalously - REGARDLESS of color. The mere fact that there are not that many white-skinned people of that description is a product of history - not of prejudice.

Look, I’m sorry you can’t find a decent engineering job. But you should’ve researched the hiring rates for SU engineers a bit better before choosing to go there. It’s got nothing to do with race and everything to do with quality of education.
