Bush didn't even win the popular vote in 2000, and did in 2004, while the wars were going on

2004 to 2008 the world changed. Bush left office as an extremely unpopular president. In 2004 people were still willing to rally to the banner to a war time president after an attack. Come 2008, Katrina, the financial crisis had left a stain of incompetence on bush, and by 2008 it was clear to anyone paying attention Iraq was a war of choice with no strategic value or path to victory.

The GOP was losing in 2008 and 2012 no matter what.

Why a person thinks the GOP is losing 2016/2020/2024 popular vote is a pretty good litmus test for where they stand politically.

From my perspective it shouldn’t have happened. Losing popular votes to Hillary, Biden and Kamala is poor performance.

I make this point weekly on this board, usually with few takers

It's just easier to make it a battle between the majority of good, decent people who if not corrupted are on our side and the evil elites.

You're not wrong. Congress has a 90+% re-election rate

this is a sickening fact. Everyone bitches about the state of the country and then keep electing the same jack asses while expecting a different result.

Most of the electorate are imbeciles.

I disagree. It’s the folks that will lie, cheat, and steal during elections and the fact there are zero consequences for these people when they get caught. Start publicly hanging some of these folks and things will change.

So you're saying it was better before the internet, before cable TV, when people were only informed by the local Newspaper's editors and major TV network news anchors like Walter Cronkite?

I'm saying it was better when people could watch cooking shows without having the Dem-de-jour show up every other day

Doh! Missed it.

If Trump loses to Kamala/Walz I never want to hear from him or from anybody in his grifting family again.

They're already getting scared of Trump losing to Kamala and are starting to fan the flames of muh fraud proactively

After getting its arse kicked in 2018, 2020, 2022, and maybe 2024, we'll see if the GOP course corrects and nominates candidates who aren't complete clowns.

Or maybe the GOP isn't tired of losing yet and Kamala will be a two term president.

We'll see.
