I emphatically disagree. You're an insufferable dick, but you already know this.

quote:Well if we count as atheist a program that does not even admit itself atheist, put on by a host who does not admit himself as atheist either, then the NFL and NBA must be unabashedly Christian proselytizing efforts, because the players are praying at game beginning and end . . . . all the time.
If we count Cosmos as an atheist broadcast (as many christians do) an atheist program is currently wrecking shop in the ratings department

I didnt say it was an atheist broadcast, or even that I considered it an atheist broadcast. I was using the christian standard of atheist broadcasting.
My point was christians cant call things like that atheist programs then turn around and claim nobody watches anything atheist oriented. It's hypocritical.

I even remember growing up the son of a deacon in the 80s

A man came to church and he was hungry. It happened to be potluck night. He was treated like a king, and my dad asked me to sit in the back seat and he took this man to a local motel, paid for three nights and gave him a $100 bill and his business card. They found the man work the next morning.
Which is best? Those who sit at the head of the table or those who serve? I think most here know where this question comes from....

And the church is wondering where all this immorality came from - they contributed heavily to it.
Lukewarm believers. Spewed out.....

Really smart people believe in God, it isnt necessarily a matter of intelligence. It's a matter of credulity if anything.
It's a matter of belief. Credure, episteme (epistle), or 'a letter of credit' or 'trust'. To go with the story because one trusts.

Credulity and faith are interchangeable when faith is placed in something with minimal evidence. You believe because you want it to be true. By definition, any such belief is credulous whether it is true or not.
Even if christians have it right, they are still credulous individuals because their belief isnt rooted in any observable knowledge base man has discovered yet.

I knew this was coming. Funny how atheists of today resemble fundamentalists of yesteryear.
Your statement seems to confirm your misunderstanding of science and its limitations. Observable? Do you mistake the absence of evidence for the evidence of absence?

In the real world we do not have much evidence or we have incomplete information, thus the question, "God or no God?" is essentially true/false. This means, since most evidence is hidden from us, that a decision still must be made and I'll go with the unbounded choice, TRUE. I have a hard time treating the unborn as I would the dead.
