The Chinese should be paying damages to those who have died or suffered from the virus

Straight from the Communist Party itself. The families of those who have loved ones who have died and those who have suffered from illness and also the effects of quarantine (loss of wages, etc) should receive compensation from the Chinese.
They likely manufactured this virus in a lab and are responsible for its outbreak.

They cut a check? They must have trillions of dollars from ripping us off in trade prior to Trump.

Yeah, I’m sure they’ll get right on that

It is an absolute outrage that 90% of our medical ingredients are produced in china. That is NATIONAL SECURITY disaster.

No, just curious. Got a rabbit hole I can go down?

yes, certainly it will usher in a new, lasting era of isolationism

the best argument against free trade and comparative advantage is that it is a national security, public health risk to have key supplies being produced by a foreign, potentially hostile nation.
well, this virus is a perfect example of that.

Trump will hammer this point close to election time. The virus will be fresh on people’s minds and Trump will remind America Democrats want open borders.

is everything we care about short term? if so, being "potentially hostile" to your biggest customers is a great way to go.
also, even i wouldn't suggest that's the "best argument" to be made "against comparative advantage", even if it's the least-bad.
that's because it's just terrible

he'd probably do well to not breathe one word about the virus by that time

Just call it "reparations" and the whole liberal left would fight for the cause. They wouldn't have a clue what it was, but they would be organizing communities 24/7 just because of the name.

IDK if it was manufactured. It isn't a coincidence that SARS also came from China, and various swine and bird flus.
Chinese eating habits are gross. Their hygiene is terrible. They torture dogs to death because: 1) they eat dogs, and 2) they believe an animal suffering at death makes the meat taste better. Look it up. There are really disturbing vidoeos, TONS of them, of Chinese people doing terrible things to dogs and other animals in these "wet markets".
I have lost my appetite for Chinese food.

Heard anything from the media lately on the Hong Kong protestors? Surprised no media have connected it to that.
