They're just trying to protect him.

The narrative arises out of the fact that the drivers could not enter the garage area due to the coronavirus restrictions.

It’s easy for me to say this, but if someone allegedly committed a “hate crime” against me I’m about to go on National TV & wrap myself in the flag of being a victim, I’d want to take a look at the evidence first.

This. If the pull ropes have been there wouldn’t someone in his crew just say that is not a noose just a pull rope. Other crews would know this too. This was an orchestrated event for NASCAR to show the world they are woke.

It wouldn’t surprise me if some uhhhhhh journalist popped off about the garage door pulls to a mid level NASCAR drone, who then ran straight to the front office with the brilliant idea that this will show those redneck CSA flag flying idiots . . .
NASCAR front office had to be fuming about the battle flag defiance and somebody seized on this. They will come out with a statement that the garage door rope pulls were “insensitive” and “offensive” and now every track that uses them will have to replace with something “more suitable.”
The saddest part of this to me is The King himself, Richard Petty. NASCAR has fallen so far that the legendary 43 car is a Chevy (and I’m a GM fan) and has no sponsor but BLM and the Petty family’s own charity.
The fight went out on of the Pettys when Adam was killed and all of NASCAR when Dale died.
