I guess it's a bit less because Charlie's salary isn't on the books anymore.

How did you celebrate his murder?

I donate money to a couple of Christian missions in KC who shelter and feed the homeless, if I ever find out either mission is paying their directors exorbitant salaries I will donate my money elsewhere. Some would ask, what's exorbitant?

You should dive into the financials of Samaritan's Purse. Franklin Graham 3 has gotten extra rich off of their efforts, to the tune of around $10 million over the past decade. Its other directors have done well for themselves, too. Samaritan's Purse pays out a higher percentage to its directors than the Red Cross does its, but catches very little shite comparatively speaking.

I only point out Samaritan's Purse because it is one that is often held up as a trustworthy charity, despite having the same issues — arguably worse in some ways — as many of the others.

Haven't donated to Samaritan's purse in quite awhile. Checked the two Christian missions I donate to and Charity navigator has both rated 4 Star. One director makes $111k/year and the other makes $87k/year

I've taken the "the closer to home I can get the better" approach for some time now. I try to find groups local to my area, or if I'm donating to groups that help in emergency relief I look for local ones or those that I know will be around long after public attention fades. Larger outfits just never seem to meet those standards.

Making the person, group, organization, whatever who pays bail be civilly responsible for any crimes that person commits while out on the bail they paid might go a long way.

The American Bail Coalition would never allow this.

All profit, no risk: How the bail industry exploits the legal system

quote:

The image of the bail bondsman who brings fugitives to justice is a familiar and powerful one; unfortunately, it’s more fiction than fact. In this report, we explain why the central tenet of the industry — that “it provides a public service at no cost to the taxpayer” — is a lie that the industry uses to defend its profitable position in the American criminal legal system. In reality, bail bond companies and their deep-pocketed insurance underwriters are almost always able to avoid accountability when they fail to do their one job - to ensure their clients’ appearance in court. The result? They get richer, defendants get poorer, and local law enforcement does their job for them, returning defendants to court on the taxpayer’s dime.

That might be a good idea to curtail a lot of this revolving door crap
Since what we’ve been doing for generations isn’t working, maybe we could give rehabilitation a shot.
