How expensive do you think this would be in this country? For meny it would be a step down in care and your nice suburban doctors office will look like Spirit Airlines.
I'll put it this way, Medicaid pays bush people's transportation, hotels, taxi etc. will not decrease health care costs and lead to worse outcomes for people who have good insurance now.

I have a friend that had a surgery almost a decade ago and after insurance “pitching in” he owed $40,000.
He has paid $50 a month for almost a decade and even though they call and threaten him every other month, nothing has ever happened

The ACA was meant to destroy healthcare, and make it so bad that people would welcome Universal care, which would completely destroy the system. It’s the poison pill that seems to be working, unfortunately

Universal care hasn't exactly turned all of these other places into 3rd world shite holes
Meanwhile the poison pill system is sucking the wealth out of our great nation

Its the single most inflationary thing the govt has ever done.
It destroyed an already tenuous market.

The American Healthcare System Is The Biggest Pile Of shite Ever Invented

Everytime I post a job ad for our business, I get flooded with people trying to leave medical billing. I would absolutely welcome the entire collapse of the American healthcare system and all the crappy jobs that come with it. And, If I pay for insurance, I pay NOTHING else for procedures/prescriptions.

If we don’t raise rates how will private equity and insurance companies make money? Think about them.

If we just went to universal healthcare, then pharmacy costs would go down!!!
If you asked OP what the name of the drug was that he’s getting a prior auth on, I’ll bet it’s not covered for most universal healthcare plans in the world.

My prescription copay was like $5, and my chemo only cost $25/month and I didnt have to fight through the Spirit Airlines crowd to be seen.
If I were still working, single payer would be a huge step down for me.

It's so beyond incompetent I can't even believe it. It impoverishes the middle class. It absolutely has to be an attempt to establish universal healthcare and rationing. There is no other explanation.

The problem is that we are subsidizing ACA through both higher premiums and with our taxes.

But no matter what we have to dig in our heels and defend it so the socialists don't win

Wait, you think the only two alternatives are the current system or single payer?

I go to my PCP twice a year and have bloodwork and labs at the local hospital the day before I go.
Last week I asked them about the self pay option instead of using insurance. The dr office told me they give a 35% discount for self pay customers.
I called the hospital to ask the same thing about the lab work. To my absolute amazement they told me it was $85 out the door. They typically bill my insurance around $650.
So $175 for Dr visit and $85 for labs if I pay same day cash. They bill my insurance around $900 for the same thing.

You cannot have a responsive, innovative healthcare system that covers all health costs as covered expenses (setting aside the level of deductible for now) that is also inexpensive.
I’m not sure you can have an innovative healthcare system alone that is inexpensive.
That’s not “I don’t want the socialists to win.” It’s just reality. You can join me in reality or rage against it.
