They share a border though, and dont have to schlep halfway across the world like we did. Ukraine has been able to keep Russia's advance slow with a combo of better trained / better tech, but Thailand has the better training & tech on top of numerical superiority

Yes, it is weird to see dusty arse CCP offices in Cambodia post Communist Khmer Rouge with your own eyes. Especially in the same area that was the prior stronghold. I was well aware of the history before I went, and that the communist party is still in control (but not Khmer Rouge), but to me its somewhat similar to Communist parties surviving after the fall of the Soviet Union in former bloc countries.
