They’re uncool, which is certainly a real marketing issue.

How much do you spend on electricity per year for it

The car tells you exactly where to go. Each stop takes 15 minutes max. If you are on a road trip with young kids, your really aren't saving much time in a gas car compared to a Tesla, unless it's an older Tesla.
My car running on gas goes where I want it to go, not the other way around, I’m not tied to a route based on charging stations, can’t see why anyone would want to travel in that manner. Exploring new roads is the best part of traveling.

So inform me.
How much does the average Tesla cost?
How long before the battery needs to be replaced...completely?

But the Model 3 is by far its highest volume selling car and starts at I think $37k and once you factor in total cost of ownership over a 3 or 5 year period, it's no different than owning a car around $30k, if not cheaper. Not expensive at all.
quote:on newer Teslas, up to 500k miles. Really nothing super concerning until you get past probably 300k miles, so a complete non factor for probably 99% of people who'd never come close to the amount of miles needed before having to replace a battery.

quote:I think $7k or so but I have no idea since it's something I'll never have to do based on simply using the battery so much it degrades to the point I need a new one. It's kinda like buying a gas vehicle, virtually no one prices out how much it would cost to replace the engine and factors that into their purchasing decision.
How much does that cost?

I can’t get my wife to put gas in the damn car as it is. You want to see a fight? Let me get in the car and the low battery light comes on and I’m 20-40min late waiting for it to charge.
Well sure, but the difference is you don’t have a gas pump at home.

16 Hrs to travel from St Louis to Colorado Springs in a Model 3
12 Hrs in a gas vehicle.
This will always be the downfall, but for the majority of people they are more than sufficient for day to day travel.
There will always be a gap that electric can’t fill.

I know a lot pf people do but I have never spent $30k on a vehicle.
So far as the batteries go you have hit the manufacturers talking points but...

Model 3 Standard or Standard Range Plus – 8 years or 100,000 miles
Seems they only warranty it for 1/3 what they claim.

I don’t own an EV, but most manufacturers offer 3yrs/50k total warranty. None of them are going to tell you that your car is going to shite the bed at 50,001 miles. And most cars won’t do that.

I understand that. No manufacturer is going to tell me my engine is going to last 300-500k either.
I will put over 100k on a vehicle in 4 years or less...for a lot of people that is out of warranty before the car is even paid off. I would hate to get hit with a $5000-7000 bill about that time.
It's just one of my concerns. Tesla is the peak of EV...what about the others? I doubt any of those come close to Tesla's quality.

I guess gas stations never had long lines.... oh wait...

I can charge Tesla at home over night taking 5 seconds to plug in. If you valued your time so much why would you want to waste it by having to go to a gas station like a poor?

If I wait more than 5 minutes for a pump I just go to the station across the street, or up the block, but I guess you could do the same thing in a Tesla, oh wait, you can’t there isn’t another charging station across the street, or up the block.

lol won’t have to, charged it at home overnight. Going to gas stations is for poors who don’t value their time.

Tesla’s quality/reliability is actually quite poor but they do have a leg up in battery technology and especially their charging network.

Still wouldn't make it from Baton Rouge to Grand isle and back...I've not seen any charging stations along that route.
Can you pull your boat with your EV? What? No boat? What's that about poors?
