While not a club, atheists have the largest and most powerful support in the nation.....it's call the ACLU.

umm...what? it's purely based in judao-christian belief systems. there is not a more perfect example than the gay marriage issue

Your gay friends are treated the same whether they are atheist or Christian.
not in Louisiana, as Louisiana strictly bars a gay person from marrying a person of the same sex, purely based in religion

marriage is not trivial to many people, especially in a society based around marriage as a social construct AND legal advantages to being married. there are many parts of our legal system (both state and federal) incentivizing marriage...and a particular group is banned solely on religious grounds
if you are arguing bans on gay marriage aren't based in religion, then you are being intellectually dishonest

I actually agree with that, disagree with the attack a nation attack its culture and religion thing.

Yes they can....winning is completely up to the voters.

bullshite. There was an atheist club at my high school are there a similar clubs at LSU.
This. In fact, in public schools, they are cutting down on the amount of religious groups that can meet there. For example, because the Boy Scouts don't allow gay scoutmasters (more for insurance reasons than religious ones), they aren't allowed to meet in public schools and are often banned from recruiting there because they're seen as a "Christian" organization.
Religious clubs that endorse a specific Christian denomination are not allowed as well. Organizations like the Fellowship of Christian Athletes cannot endorse a single religion.
However, Muslim students can have their own organization as can atheists.

agreed
and it proves my point
voters by and large across this entire country would pick a criminal (up to rape) over an atheist

so? if every high school doesn't have an athiest club that's oppression?

two athiests can get married anywhere they want

For a lawyer, you have fricked up definition of religious persecution.

But it doesn't matter what their religion is. The ban on gay marriage applies to gay atheists and gay Christians equally.

should i post a list of atheists that have held public office or would you just rather look it up yourself?

Is there any data to support this or just a hunch?

For some reason, I highly doubt that there are as many rapists in elected office than atheists. In fact, I would expect there to be many atheists in Congress, whether they admit it or not. However, maybe atheists should question why they get such a bad rap in the community that they're not trusted. Maybe, it has something to do with how they treat Christians in the public forum. Maybe it's because the most vocal among them are uncompromising, assholes that ruin things for everyone, causing the majority of people to associate all atheists with those arse-hats just like most atheists associate all Christians with pedophile priests and/or the Westboro Baptist Church.

google atheists and public schools....if anything its the atheists that are trying to do the oppressing
Posted on 7/21/14 at 8:49 am to Revelator
Schools have slowly but surely transitioned into their own little fiefdoms that are not bound by the laws that exist beyond their walls.

Never any public safety concerns? There are no bars in any place that stay open 24/7?
quote:
umm...what? it's purely based in judao-christian belief systems. there is not a more perfect example than the gay marriage issue
Is it those two religions religion solely or do other issues come into this? Do any non church goers support the ban?
quote:
not in Louisiana, as Louisiana strictly bars a gay person from marrying a person of the same sex, purely based in religion
Then all believers are opposed to it and all non believers are supporters. I'd like to see something credible that verifies this.

Oh. OK

if you are arguing bans on gay marriage aren't based in religion, then you are being intellectually dishonest
This then is your principal issue? You seem to have narrowed the scope.
Let me see if I understand you. Non believers are oppressed everywhere because of gay marriage being illegal in a few states?

Funny you say that...There really isnt...only the Lord of the Rings trilogy probably has better and more morality than the Bible...
probably should switch, dont you think!
