And you’d be in jail for murder because you’d be a murderer.

are you seriously trying to argue you can't shoot at a mob of people who broke into your house.

I'm not trying to troll or comment on Babbit one way or another. There's good argument here either way. But you went full retard.

Gee i wonder why the 4-5 cops who were standing there behind Ashley Babbit thought otherwise?

The DOJ pre-determined not to prosecute.

I am not stating that Ms. Babbitt's actions were not a contributing cause and were unwise to say the least, but the frickery going on surrounding this is hard to ignore:

1. Trump's rally was known in advance;
2. Calls for NG/additional police security were either intentionally or, at best, (gross) negligently ignored;
3. The protestors were NOT advised to vacate and there is plenty of evidence showing they were waved in by LEO at the capital;
4. There were multiple LEOs in the hall in the minutes and seconds preceding the shooting- the video I recall shows them directing the crowd and certainly not taking aim or issuing orders to dispel the crowd which had been, err, mostly peaceful;
5. The shooter was lurking behind a door taking aim at the door as if waiting for a deer to come into sight;
6. Most importantly, the shooter gave no verbal warnings before opening fire.
7. The LEO tour guides seemingly approved of the shot.

I think a lot of that will be dictated by local department policy. May be good bills to introduce on the state level. They already have police officer bill of rights in most states and/or civil service protection.

Seeing you guys abandon “play stupid games, win stupid prizes” on Ashley Babbitt just because her politics matched yours has been one of the highlights of Poli Board hypocrisy

100%. If it was a BLM breaking into a state capitol then he/she deserved it!

I wish that George Floyd's death hadn't started the riots that it had. There are absolutely legitimate areas of police reform that, I think, both sides can agree on but the BLM riots poisoned that. Because of that I absolutely understand wanting to know the name of Babbitt's shooter regardless of whether it was a justified shooting or not.

Until things change ti treat everyone the same then I say we need to know this cop's name.

The reason we didn’t know his name immediately is that if we did there would be some ugly and uncomfortable statements come to light. It’s pretty obvious.

Yeah. Some here would argue that. And you would argue against it. So congrats on the hypocrisy.

Here’s something wild. I thought both deaths were injustices worthy of prosecution. But I’m not a jellyfish when it comes to morals and judgment.

I also don’t weep for either of them. They both acted stupidly. And in a sane world, Officer Byrd would have had his day in court the same as Chauvin.

Total silence when Pelosi tried to usurp the Commander in Chief’s potential use of nuclear weapons. That seems treasonous to me.

But I do think it’s interesting the law recognizes barriers as offering certain protections to shooters.

Are you still comparing home protection laws as being equivalent to public spaces?

So if I walk into Sams Club before they are officially open, they can shoot me?

Do it at Area 51 and let me know

Tell them you pay taxes so technically you own the base and can do what you want

So now we are comparing a locked down secretive military complex to a public building that hosts dozens of tour groups on a daily basis?

Still s t r e t c h i n g arent you?

I thought we were discussing the principle that the government can restrict access to government buildings and especially during a mob attack on the Capitol that places members of Congress in direct threat of harm.

And here I was believing my civics teacher about that being my House.

I bet La. law doesnt allow someone the right to shoot me when Im crossing my own threshold?

Speaking of s t r e t c h I n g

If the mob of people turned out to be an unarmed woman who didn’t even enter your home, you’d definitely being doing time.

This should get you a medal and I don't give a frick which side does it. Our government has absolutely zero fear of its citizens and that's a bad thing.
