They have moved on to book burning

Ahhhhh...that’s where it was.

History is bound (pun intended) to repeat itself.

That's not what thr tweet nor the article says.

Fake news, but unsurprising from either side these days.

Fahrenheit 451 wasn’t intended to be an instruction manual

I read the article. It’s absolutely what the intention is. Disagree.

They can just go ahead and frick right off if they think I'm getting rid of books because the author is/was white.

It is absolutely astounding how stupid these people are. "Let's just act like none of that happened and none of those books exist and that will solve everything."

They don’t care. They’ll simple rewrite history. In fact, they already are.

If you are white, take a moment to examine your bookshelf. What do you see? What books and authors have you allowed to influence your worldview, and how you process the issues of racism and prejudice toward the disenfranchised

There is nothing wrong with reading books written by people you may disagree with. This country would be in better shape if people (both left and right) would leave their echo chambers and actually listen to points of view that aren’t fed to them by one source. People on here piss an moan about the liberal media while ignoring the fact they probably get all of their information from conservative sources.

It's not. It's basically asking people to open up their minds to authors from difference backgrounds, including race. If you only read white authors or Latino authors, you're missing out on other perspectives. He doesn't advocate for getting rid of your current books but rather taking an inventory of your literature and try to find opportunities to expand it.

Your title is click bait. It worked I guess, but you're better than that.

What is your specific problem with anything in that statement?

It doesn't mean to get rid of white authors on your shelf. It's asking you to self asses your literary world and see if you're in a bubble/echo chamber or sorts. That's good advice for anyone.

I'll be fine. I'm not taking up for rioters, I'm simply capable of having a nuanced conversation - a skill that is apparently in shorter supply than normal on this board.

You'll be happy to know none of this was even suggested by the actual tweet or article at hand.
