What is appropriate now is criticism of Trump for creating new additional farm welfare because of his trade war.
While I understand your point, I guess it really comes down to whether you have faith, confidence and patience that the strategy will work. I happen to believe it will based on my belief that China will succumb to the need to feed their people.

They can feed their people without the USA. That they are starving is a myth.

35 years ago or thereabouts, I worked at a fine paper mill. We had some Japanese businessmen/investors take a tour of the paper mill. At the time they had this grandiose idea of building a floating paper mill and transporting this paper mill off the coast of South America and shipping the finished paper to...wherever. We had to take tarps and cover up various parts of the paper machines and associated equipment to prevent the Japanese from taking pictures of everything and stealing the technology. Beats me why they were even allowed to tour the mill. We had a WWII Pacific veteran who just trembled with rage when they came through. Told the bossman that if he brought them around to his work station, he would not guarantee their safety. Yeah, I know this is a little off topic but the OP just reminded me of all this.

No, it still is punishing your own people. You're just arguing we have enough resources to weather it.

If it's on hold, it's because they're building shite too fast for the contractors to keep up. I've got a friend that's a commercial contractor that has been hiring left and right. I don't know how many new hire physicals, drug screens, DOTS, pulmonary clearances we've done here recently, but it's been a lot. And just this week he asked to pull a crew off a job he had going for me to send them to Arkadelphia. It's stimulation our economy.

Here is some information for LazyFatBastard:
Take note of some of the countries we have surpluses with. Hong Kong, Singapore and Saudi Arabia. All have per capita incomes near or in excess of the USA.
I know it is hard for LazyFarBastard to understand but rich countries and rich peoples have trade deficits. Hong Kong has a trade deficit with the US and probably every other country in the world yet has one of the highest per capita incomes in the world in spite of having one of the highest population densities in the world.

I got exhausted reading through the article, perhaps this was answered: how is the paper plant actually impacted by tariffs? Will they be sending the product back to China?
Posted on 8/8/18 at 8:50 pm to I B Freeman
And if anything is stalling it, it's not being able to get enough people to pass a piss test. Seriously, there's been some big arse projects going on around here since Trump's been in. I'm ready for them to slow down some so they can finish my shite!

I.B., I nailed you for a one trick pony fool, dumbass, shite for brains years ago. Thanks for proving me correct!

And that article is all bullshite. There's no real stall. They're using the tariffs as an excuse to leverage some free shite from the state and local gov'ts. shite's still getting built. Jobs and money still being created and staying here.
Posted on 8/8/18 at 8:56 pm to I B Freeman
Truthfully it should encourage building here to avoid the tariffs.

A South Carolina plant that assembles televisions using Chinese parts plans to shut down and lay off nearly all its employees because of new tariffs imposed by the Trump Administration, the company announced this week.
Element Electronics — which describes itself as the only assembler of televisions in the U.S. — plans to lay off 126 of its 134 permanent full-time employees and close the Winnsboro, S.C. plant on Oct. 5. Notably, there are still at least two smaller companies that continue to assemble speciality televisions in the U.S.
“The layoff and closure is a result of the new tariffs that were recently and unexpectedly imposed on many goods imported from China, including the key television components used in our assembly operations in Winnsboro,” Carl Kennedy, Element’s vice president of human resources, said in a letter to the South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce on Monday.

From what I'm seeing and hearing? Yes. There may be some dealings going on, but work is still rolling. shite's been like a miracle. The disabled are suddenly able to work, people that couldn't afford Obamacare suddenly have good jobs with good insurance. If this shite is stalled I can't fricking wait til it picks up!!!!!!

1) you are fine with us losing jobs in certain sectors and never trying to gain any back.
2) you are fine with other countries dumping on us hurting us even more price wise and business wise.
3) you hate tariffs even if used as a negotiating tool to get better trade deals.
4) you wanted all our tariffs and protections dropped but were fine with others gouging us.
5) you said tariffs were bad for us but it was ok for others since they help other countries protect products.
6) you are fine with all our trade deficits
in conclusion: you are a functional retard.
ALL THE ABOVE IS IN YOUR POST HISTORY!
