It can work with some strategy that involves the media who will gladly give them whatever narrative that they want because the DNC controls their narrative.

Even the media at large seems to be shell shocked by this and realize that they should do the job they tell the public they do. Really of the major media figures, only Joy Reid and Don Lemon seem to have not changed.

I agree with the Biden Admin's assessment that this A-ghan thing will be completely forgotten by the US electorate by November 2022, and that the Dems won't suffer adverse political consequences from this.

I'm not happy about that prospect, but, that is my assessment.

I just don’t see how it can be. Surely any conservative, moderate, libertarian, or classical liberal every time they go on these channels they’ll scream about this to the rooftop. They could never have a non-Establishment Leftist on their shows again.

Someone else can say for sure but I don’t think we have been able to get a substantial # of Americans out

I think 15K is the consensus for the time being.

They'll do something drastic between here and midterms, and bribe the press. Probably more COVID fear or they'll try to expand health care coverage.

We've seen this many times over.

And by the way, that’s not what that article is saying. They’re saying they can spin it into a positive and a good thing that Biden handled well. They might might get away with ignoring, but no way they can spin this into a positive.

I mean. their core progressives will buy it. For sure, they're the most easily duped people on the planet.

Independents might not be so easy to convince and that's who wins you elections.

Then what made Trump sign a peace treaty with them? Im not trying to take shots or anything, I am actually curious.

They may or may not be "more tolerant" however that may end up defined. In Trump's eyes (and frankly a lot of Americans) the choice was stay forever or figure a way to get out. No one wanted the stay forever part, unless they were part of the MIC.

So then the question was how to get out. The best path out was to recognize the Taliban was going to have some say in the long term in Afghanistan and deal with them the best we could. The initial plan was to allow the Taliban to control certain districts, have seats in the Afghanistan government, and try to bring them along as long as they were "behaving".

The plan was actually working fairly well until the Taliban figured out they could have all of Afghanistan and Biden wasn't going to do shite. I am pretty sure the Chinese were very busy whispering in their ears all along. Biden really, really, really fricked this up.

Oh yea, true believers don't care about truth. There's several in this thread.

They don't need to bribe the press. The press hates Republicans more than the taliban so they'll take it upon themselves to make the about face without an ounce of shame.

The press has been bought off for a couple decades, they'll double down to shut dissent.

Networks currently criticizing the president will find themselves in a favorable position soon.

You cant blame Biden for whats happening now and not blame Trump, he is bigly responsible as well. He literally negotiated this withdrawal with the Taliban and was mad because we dint withdrawal all our troops by May like he wanted.

Yes you can. All you have to do is look at the territories controlled by the Taliban in January, February, March, through now. When Trump left office the Taliban were pretty well contained they started rolling through the country after Trump was out and Biden didn't stop them. Biden didn't even send them a strongly worded letter. Then Biden acts like this is a big surprise? BS. This is soundly at Biden's feet.

I'm pretty sure someone in the Admin is thinking Mogadishu all over again. If the US troops go into the city.

Honestly, they have probably missed the boat on getting folks out door to door. Thousands of Foreign fighters and extremists were supposed to get to Kabul today.

You can very easily blame Biden for the current situation. Negotiating a withdrawal and executing that withdrawal are mutually exclusive. We've had 2 decades to understand the capabilities and mindset of the taliban and the Afghan people. The fact that Biden believed that he had a 2 month cushion before full Taliban takeover shows just how inept he and his top advisers really are.

Well keep in mind, in March, that Milley got emotional and pleaded to keep troops or this very thing would happen.

Biden just didn't listen to advisors. This was more of a unilateral decision from this admin than you think.

Just yesterday morning on msnbS they were saying how short term the memory is for Americans and this Will be a non factor for the elections in 16 months.

They only care about spin. That’s it
