Do you want to go to war over Taiwan???
So your stance is you get pissy over legitimate tariffs against China……a country you now acknowledge that would take over Taiwan by force and fight anyone who steps in.
Lol. Just lol

My stance is let them settle it however they settle it.
You want to interfere and risk a war---not me.

What exactly is a "tariff against China"?? You don't buy that idiotic crap Trump was saying at the time that the Chinese were paying the tariffs he put on Americans who imported Chinese inputs do you??

Ok what do you want to do?? You want to go to the UN and send in a UN force like we did in Korea?
Maybe you want to have a 14 year "police action" like we had in Viet Nam?
For IB Mao, "we" = "CCP"

You obviously don't know enough to start such threads then.

How do you say "REEEEEEEEEE" in Mandarin?

I don't remember the CHICOMs being involved in Vietnam.
China pumped weapons, supplies, and paramilitary forces into Vietnam to fight the French and US from the mid 50's through the early 70's.

They also had tens of thousands of troops in North Viet Nam to defend Hanoi.

No… your stance is you want cheap shite from China (a large bulk they produce from stolen American designs and patents) to remain tariff free and turn and look the other way when they take over people by force. All of which you are happy to allow as long as that cheap junk keeps flowing in. That is your stance.

Now do corporate taxes. Whoops.
It don’t matter who was paying it professor… it helped put Americans in a competitive position. A competitive position America cannot meet unless we begin to incorporate slave labor in factories.

The majority of Taiwanese people absolutely consider themselves a separate country. They are proud of their independence. And they just want to be recognized and left the frick alone.

I think this statement and Eurocat's statement are not incorrect... but it isn't entirely correct, either.
The literal and legal fact is, very few nations acknowledge Taiwan as an independent country through law.
The de facto facts are, the US and many other countries *treat* Taiwan as a separate country both economically and politically. The US has established American Institute of Taiwan to operate as an Embassy in a country, even though legally it is not recognized as a country.
If a neighboring country to Taiwan suddenly attacked Taiwan, you can 100% count on the US defending Taiwan. Personally, I feel Taiwan is a much more reliable and important ally than Israel and/or any European country (short of England).
If a neighboring country to China suddenly attacked China, I don't think you can expect the US to defend China.
Now, realistically, does Taiwan sound like a country, or not?

Let’s hear why you think that’s a relevant comparison
It is only relevant in that the Brits were outsiders injecting themselves into China's business as some here seem to want the US to do. They went so far as to basically colonize Hong Kong yet they saw no reason to fight over the surrending of the area once their lease was up.
Why should we see any reason to defend Taiwan? They are not a colony of the US. They don't pay us anything.

The official name of Taiwan is the Republic of Non-Asshoe China.

Replace “Taiwan” with “Japan”. You can answer your own question.
What if they moved on Japan? We, and the international community, just sit back and let it happen? South Korea?
You saying we cannot apply any pressure on China at all? We just let them roll through Asia and do what they want? For more cheap shite?

Britain didn't go to the mat on Hong Kong because they couldn't hold it and they knew that. Big difference from not wanting to.

I don't advocate any military action on behalf of Taiwan--we have nothing to gain by doing so. I just don't think it is comparable to the Hong Kong issue--Britain was and still is weak and had no choice. We are not, and do.
