On Tuesday, the Supreme Court rejected an emergency request from Democratic-led cities to block a Texas-Justice Department agreement that ended administrative closure of deportation cases.
This 2024 Biden-era rule had let judges temporarily suspend proceedings for migrants pursuing legal protections like asylum. Supporters see it as a win against delays and backdoor amnesty, while critics call the deal collusion and warn it burdens crowded dockets and humanitarian cases. Broader appeals continue in lower courts.

They declined to let third party intervenors into the case to challenge the agreement between Texas and the DOJ. The fallout will surely be challenged back up to SCOTUS for a merits ruling at some point.
Regardless it should be worrisome the precedent this ordeal at the district level sets. When California and a Democrat run ATF or EPA or even DOJ work out a settlement agreement in secret and get it signed by a friendly judge, not sure anyone will be much too happy about that.

Well that settles it until a Dem judge rules exactly the opposite next week and this ruling gets ignored.

Well yes. A democrat judge at any level has more authority than SCOTUS.
