aren't there deadlines by state right around November/December of this year that you have to file for in order to be on the ballot next year?

Individual candidates have to meet deadlines this early to get themselves on the ballot for the primaries, not the general.

The parties themselves (not the individual candidates) have deadlines around now imposed by each state that they need to meet in order to get their candidate on the general election ballot. This is what the No Labels Party is doing right now.

I’m sure each state has a deadline for the parties to name their candidate for the general, but I’m sure that it’s after the conventions (I’d guess about 2 months before the election).

People here believe Biden will be replaced at the convention. I don't see it... they can't go with Kamala because she's horrible, and they can't jump Kamala with some white dude (Newsome, etc.) without pissing off the minority coalition.

It just isn't going to happen. They'll try to drag Biden across the finish line by any means necessary.

But they COULD go with Michelle Obama and promise Kamala a high ranking position and tell her to stfu and fall in line.

There's that naivety that plagues the sheep.

It doesn't fricking matter. It's all about the money to the string pullers.

The low iq down the line just do what they are told to do.

I'd say Newsom v Haley, with Newsom squeeking out a close one.

Biden will not be on the ticket, and even if there are laws and deadlines, they’ll be ignored, similar to the ways the laws were ignored in 2020.

There’s for sure an exception for health reasons. Which is what they’ll do. Around March I’m guessing, Biden will have some kind of health scare and Newsom will be the guy.

If Biden dies or drops out AFTER the convention, the DNC picks the nominee.

I believe this is correct, although I'm sure there will be a lot of political wrangling to determine who that nominee will be.

IMO, the DNC will already have their solution in place before Biden steps down. They can't afford a shite show that drags on for months at that point.

I think both Parties need to scrap all the candidates and go back to the drawing board. None of them are presidential material.

Being "Presidential Material" is not a necessity.

Being "Controllable" very much IS.

Just did some research and updated my original post. Turns out if Biden drops out after primaries it's a complete free for all and the delegates he's won can just pick whoever the DNC decides.

The Dem nomination is so heavily controlled by “super delegates” that they could intentionally throw all votes to whoever they want to be the nominee and make it so without them ever receiving a single vote.

I'm going off memory but the super delegates make up less than 20% of the delegate votes. It could swing an election but I don't see how it could elect someone that has no other votes.

Each Party has in its bylaws the mechanism to name a new candidate if the current official candidate is unable/unwilling to run.

My opinion has always been that they’ll wait until the Primaries are over and then replace him.
