They didn’t choose that terrible existence.
Those slaves were descended from people who enslaved, conquered and murdered other people.
I know you have a hatred for white men, but you need to go back to Reddit with that WhiteGuilt/NobleSavage bullzhit.

Just look at all the commentary on here relative to the topic of 'they are going to take our guns away" - you have everything from simple noncompliance to threats of felonious activity as the probably result. And I include myself somewhere on that spectrum.
The second is an unalienable right. Robbing someone's income because you refuse to work isnt.

if that were true, why do we still have people committing crimes worthy of death sentences? The death penalty existed since our country was colonized.
It’s been more than 20 years since a lot of states have put people to death. We also stopped doing death sentences for certain crimes like rape.
So crime has increased as we have put less people to death.

Hell, slavery (including the open buying/selling of them) still exists in Africa today.
quote:I don’t think it’s the knowledge of the existence of slavery that’s the impediment, it’s all the residual affects. The mass incarceration of black men. The destruction of the black family. The implicit and explicit white supremacist ideals that dominant western society. The end of slavery did not mean the end of discrimination, and we all know that.
the descendants of African slaves who were brought to the US (which was only a small fraction of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, much less worldwide and/or historical slavery) are so uniquely victimized by just the existence of this knowledge of their ancestry that it causes them to be unable to succeed in Western society without long-term handouts.

The black family was more intact prior to 1965. So, one hundred years after the Civil War, 76% of black babies were born to married women, from 1890 to 1950: black labor participation rates were higher than whites.
It is foolish to suggest that blacks face MORE “oppression and racism” now than then.

I've heard black labor participation rates were really high prior to that.

Why did you bring up the stat about the kids being born to married moms prior to 1965? Were you implying that racism had/has something to do with that? I’m not trying to have a gotcha, I just want to understand the point you were making.

The devolvement of the culture, and therefore the increase in incarceration rate / crimes committed, is correlated with broken homes and out of wedlock births.
I am very lucky to have had an involved, loving FATHER

So you’re not a pilot of black helicopters?

Can I not be both?

And that cancer doesn't care what color your skin is. Plenty of folks with white & light brown skin fall into the same pattern and it chews them all up just the same.

It bothers the hell out of me to think "some" people want to force dependency on the poor rather than give opportunity.
I would start by clearing all non violent drug crimes from records, and offer opportunity zones.
Seems better than welfare

offer opportunity zones.
What are these?
Posted on 10/26/23 at 3:39 pm to 4cubbies
Tax incentives to draw industry to impoverished areas, hire local, suspend sales tax in areas for local businesspeople. Reduction in barriers to entry for entrepreneurs.
Rand Paul has proposed these for years, no one cares about real issues it seems.
Throwing money at the problem is unsustainable, and recycles poverty.

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Yesterday, U.S. Senators Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell reintroduced the Economic Freedom Zones Act. This legislation will establish free market enterprise zones and dramatically reduce taxes to help facilitate the creation of new jobs and entrepreneurial opportunities, enhance and renew educational opportunities, and increase community involvement in bankrupt or economically distressed areas.
“The Economic Freedom Zones Act will bring hope to struggling communities by relieving the oppressive, big government burdens weighing them down,” said Senator Paul. “It’s time the federal government stop picking winners and losers and instead trust in the ingenuity of the American people.”

Throwing money at a problem is the PERFECT Liberal solution: It requires no work, no sacrifice on the part of Liberals, they use OTHER PEOPLE'S HARD EARNED MONEY and they can walk away feeling extremely proud of themselves, then subsequently virtue-signal on and on and on about how much they have helped when they've actually done the opposite.
