Students paid to take COVID tests

Wife is a teacher in Baton Rouge. She kept asking me if a card came in mail. I finally asked what this card is for and she tells me teachers get paid 10 dollars to take the COVID test every week. Family members of the students get paid 10 dollars a week, and the students get 15 dollars a week for taking the test.
Said the principle tells everyone in the school to tell their families come to the school and take the test for money.
Anyone else heard of this or am I late to the party? Paid to take a test, only reason I can see people getting paid is they want people to test positive to show COVID numbers are up.

As a taxpayer, I would want to how that is funded.

I can confirm that this is true. The money comes in slowly but they are even paying private contracted therapists who work in the school to get tested.

It’s a thing.

In the hallways of New Orleans schools, students talk about the headphones, video games, or Christmas presents they’re saving up for with an unusual new source of income: cash incentives for the COVID-19 tests they take. The money they’re budgeting has accrued gradually in their online accounts, $10 a week for every COVID-19 test they take at school. For students who’ve participated since the beginning of the school year, those accounts could soon hold a few hundred dollars. “Once kids realized this incentive existed, we saw a lot of our kids really pushing their parents to sign the consent form,” said Tiffany Delcour, the chief operating officer of New Orleans schools.

“What we’ve heard from districts and schools is that COVID fatigue is real,” said Leah Perkinson, the manager of the pandemics health team at the Rockefeller Foundation, which has worked with schools, states, and the federal government to grow testing efforts. “People are tired, they are frustrated, they are exasperated ... I think incentives are a way to inject some new energy into this space

Isn’t it amazing how money just appears out of thin air for all this crap?
The vaccines are free, paid to test, child tax credits and pilot programs that are paying people just for the hell of it.
We are lucky inflation isn’t higher.

No kidding. My wife can walk her butt to the mailbox if she’s expecting something. Also, the waste of mailing and ignorance of not getting it there after.

CRT, Crime and Inflation is doing the Dems in. Their only hope is more electoral cheating. Add in that a lot of people are getting harmed BY the vaccine, with God only knowing future affects...and they are toast.
It would be far more prudent to subsidize test for Antibodies (real immunity), but that won't help their election cheat strategy.

Yes, it’s true. The school where I work is doing it. I signed up to get tested if I need to, but not for the money program.
Figured they would want a lot more personal info.

You know how.
Either you’re paying for it, or our grandchildren are.

My daughter gets the same deal for her weakly testing at school. She opted to do it and gets the money.
Every Monday she takes the test and either Monday night or Tuesday morning we get the pcr results email.

In EBR teachers must get tested every week and they get paid 10 dollars. Students have the option to get tested and they get paid 10 dollars. Money comes from a federal grant
