I'm dropping people.

I didn't care much years ago when people had different opinions but still cared about individualism and freedom. Today one side is openly against those things.

Here's just one example from a person I know:

Guy is solidly on the left though not extreme. He believes in higher taxes in order to help the needy. Meanwhile he has a side hustle and doesn't claim those multiple thousands come tax time.

So he is ok voting to take more of my money but he hides his. I'm suppose to ignore that?

Talking to a single-issue ideologue can be interesting, entertaining and sometimes even educational.

That is not what he describes.

Someone who agrees lockstep with his party on EVERY issue is not really an “ideologue” in my mind, but rather a mindless drone.

I think his point was the same.

I would expect your friends on the right could tolerate and even like your friends on the left, if they could agree not to talk politics. I can't say that's generally true for lefties... save a certain Factoral ;) He could.

The left breeds intolerance of view. The right is slowly waking up, but has been politically apathetic for far too long.

Exactly.

And I will admit that I have specific issues that I will never change my position on - but I don’t feel the need to force others to agree with me about it.
