Stuck in the middle
Posted by vuvuzela on 8/1/20 at 5:38 am666
I've got friends on the left and I've got friends on the right. They couldn't get along if they tried because of their political stances on everything. My question to both of them is who fricking cares? People today can't have friends unless they share political views? For fricks sake, what happened to just enjoying titties and beer.

Upvote. Couldn't agree more.
One big cause: there's a whole "industry" in this country based on taking relatively small differences between people, then turning on the hype to inflate and inflame them into epic issues. It's conflict manufactured to generate ratings/clicks.
People at both ends of the political spectrum engage in this--for example Maddow on the left, Limbaugh on the right. They get rich and the rest of us live less civilized lives.

Because every generation born past 1990 has an inherent belief not only that their way is right, but that other people must convert to their ideology. Oh yea, get the frick off my lawn.

’m in the same boat. Liberals think I’m a Republican and conservatives think I’m a democrat. Each flips out when I agree with or cite a benefit of the other party.
They’ve moved so far apart in the past 4-8 years I’m not sure how you could have stances on each side. You are either a socialist or your not

I usually ask a person “What is the one issue that you completely disagree with that is part of your parties platform?”
If they can’t state one - I never talk politics with them again. I will just drink beer and make jokes from then on. Because they are simple minded and you cannot discuss a topic when someone already has let CNN/Fox News make up their mind for them.
(Example for me: I usually vote conservative but I think the war on drugs is a waste of time)
Please don’t take my thoughts to start a political discussion and get this thread whacked.

Let's hear you cite a benefit of the current democratic party.

I think a “waste of time and money” is viewing it in the best possible light, but I agree the conservative side should drop this issue from any future platform.
