He had the good fortune of running against the weakest democratic candidate in US history. Otherwise we would not have this buffoon for President.

He's done a few things that I've liked and several others that I haven't. I can't think of a single thing a Dem would do that I agree with outside of marijuana legalization which they'd want to tax. I just want it legalized with no strings attached.

A fiscal conservative would want a decrease in spending above all else, and wouldn’t call for fiscally irresponsible tax cuts to offload the debt burden onto future generations so that you can have your military, your pork, and your social security.

Well, this sounds like me.

I want spending cuts including to mandatory spending, such as social security by raising the retirement age, changing the cost of living indexer, etc. I also want tax increases. Again I think the gang of six had it right. 2 or 3 dollars of spending cuts for each dollar of tax increases until the debt and deficit is under control.

Then in 5-10 years, as demographics shift with more baby boomers dying and millennials in the work force, I want large tax decreases.

Again overall I want to keep more of my money and I want less spending including the military. If it means a 5% increase in my taxes for 5-10 years coupled with gov spending decreases and retiring a few years later so that I get a 20% tax decrease in 5-10 years I'm all for it. That is what the gang of 6 plan looked like.

The bullshite that is going on now means one thing only. People who pay taxes will get bent over with substantial tax increases no matter which side is in charge in the near future considering the current trajectory.

Whatever all that means is what I am "politically". And yeah, simple math tells me dems are better than the gop right now for the debt and deficit. So I side with them now. That changes I change sides. I have no loyalty to mascots and letters, only policies and my wallet.

What does that even mean? I didn't like Trump. At all. I almost vomited in my mouth when I voted for him. And he's still better than Hillary

Pass through deductions? No. Accountants and attorneys are excluded. You know that though so you must be getting at something else. Anyway, about to sign off and nap. Early day tomorrow

It’s amazing that 60 minutes is even airing this

No. It's not.
It's not even amazing they never ran any stories of Bill Clinton's rape charges.
It's who they are and what they're about.

I'd make huge cuts in spending. I'd slash entire departments, all foreign aid, military spending and increase the age for entitlements although I hate that term because we paid in that money with a promise of return. I'd slash half of the federal government easily.

Then you'd be a true fiscal conservative. Not somebody that just bitches about welfare and planned parenthood but don’t touch my social security because you promised and always increase military spending just because.

60 minutes

I grew up in a very conservative household and remember mom and dad watching every Sunday. I think it’s great.

Nope. W2 wage earner is still most of my income unless I go into private practice or suppose if I stick around to become a partner at some point. Who knows but neither at the moment.

I'd go scorched earth on the federal budget. All we need from the feds is a national sales tax to fund national security, the branches of government, foreign policy and the interstate highway system. Get rid of all of the rest.

ETA - I had very little doubt that my Libertarian views would be popular

Wonder if she can make Trump look any more ridiculous than he makes himself look daily.

Stock market through the roof since he took over, lower taxes, stronger military and job growth. Pretty much the complete opposite of President Obama. I can see why you think he has done such a terrible job.

You are smarter than that. You can only work for the super wealthy so long before you pick up a few things and realize being the professional isn't nearly as fun as being the client.

I don't think Trump is a conservative, not by a mile. But acting like there's no difference is idiotic.

oh, I am not saying they were the same. The only thing they had in common, as for as I am concerned, is that I didn't think either one was a good fit for the position.

But now, I think Trump is a mockery of the position. He doesn't truly respect the position and puts himself above the best interest of the country.
