How do you explain the massive discrepancy in cases (when compared to the prior years) between Week 4 and the slope?

Damn, looks like we’re in the midst of a nice precipitous drop there.

Sad part is a lot of people probably think exactly these even after being told the reason it looks that way.

Yeah, I know. Why do I come here if I dislike it so much.

I feel a responsibility to try to correct misinformation, especially related to science. It's very frustrating that wrong ideas collect and multiply in echo chambers like this. I can't call them out in Facebook or half my family will never talk to me again, so I come here.

I don't mind people taking the side that the numbers are inflated, or that we can't trust them. There is good reason to be skeptic. I mind very much when they use graphs like this as keystones in their arguments.

I'm not saying Covid-19 numbers aren't being inflated (even though I think they're not). I'm not saying some people wouldn't have died of pneumonia anyway without Covid. I just want to specifically point out this single point of info, and I'm not interested in arguing those conspiracy theories in this thread.

Dude, what specifically would you like to point out then? I mean the graphs you posted directly contradict what you believe.

No. It’s a message board of random people I don’t know.

I’m not sure why it would concern anyone.

What is the harm you fear they are causing?

Sure. Don’t think it’s a huge issue with regard to this graph that micro hates. Honestly I didn’t really pay attention to it. I will go look at it.

I think there are bigger problems that this graph. I gave up Facebook though so maybe the problem is bigger than I thought.

Dude you really are a whinny bitch. You want to stay home, then stay the frick home. No one is making you go out.

But frick you for telling me I cannot.

Let me ask you one question....does the flu kill people? If yes....then why is it ok for people to be out and about with it and spreading it knowing that it will kill people? I dont care about if its as deadly as this virus, they are both respiratory viruses...now, straight up answer....you know it kills thousands every year...so is it okay for you and others to kill people by spreading the flu?

Your antimated chart appears to be deceptively drawn and misleading... For example, week 25 shows approximately 1500 pneumonia deaths... Which magically jump to 3000 to 3500, for week 25, by the end of the year

This graph is part of a much larger disinformation campaign. You've noticed me posting in certain types of threads, so much so that you've called it out. But you haven't noticed that almost all of them are spreading disinformation?

I guess I didn't explain myself well enough in the first post. The pneumonia graph always drops off like that, even if you checked it this same time last year or any time really. That's what the animation is showing - the progression of how the graph changed over time. Pneumonia counts come in late and get added back in time, so the graph always dips down to the current date because of that.

People are taking the dip and saying it means we are having way less pneumonia that usual, and that pneumonia deaths are fraudulently being counted as Covid deaths. That is not true, because the drop in the graph is not a real drop.

Disinformation in that you don't agree with it or in that it's just flat 180 degrees opposite of what it right information?
