So Sprocket,
You're currently a boss of a government employees union in the St George area.

Be honest. Will you get a promotion with the new government? Or will you suddenly become a real estate mogul in SG like the rest of them?

None of the above. I'll keep my day job, and continue donating time to St.G as long as it takes to get established.

Being union boss is a long term deal? Nothing wrong with that, I guess.

So your "October 21 is the official deadline" statement is misleading at best and bull shite at worst.

Stop looking for fights. I stated quite clearly that is THEIR deadline, and any validation period is cloudy.

Not sure how though. Before I was allowed to sign I was validated to be eligible to sign by some app the volunteer had in their phone.

Same here.

Just in time to have it blocked by a law suit.

We'll see. I want it to go up for a vote just to get it over with. A law suit or injunction just enables the good ol boys in charge of SG to play the victim card.

I also want to vote now, and yes you are right. More interference by Kip and company is going to bring more supporters to the SG movement.

And why wouldn't it? 17k, plus signed a petition to vote for a new city. That's more voters than many of these minor tax elections draw; yet the people at city hall are doing everything they can to stop them.

People here have griped that SH is stringing out the process, but then you have the city's lawyer telling us they plan to draw things out even longer. You can't have it both ways.

I agree, it's time to vote.

Same here. No need to drag this out further. Let the vote take place if the signatures are valid.

Thank you

Can someone provide some insight into what steps occur next?

The registrar validates the signatures once submitted and the governor authorizes the vote if it meets the requirement? Does the governor's office have influence on when this vote takes place?

Attention St. George Leaders:

Adjust your strategy and have the election on the Incorporation in the spring of 2015! Then your leadership can concentrate on getting the positive voters to the polls. You have a built in data base of over 17,000 residents to use as a baseline for the election. Be Smart and be a winner!

That seems a bit too far into the future....

ETA: I hope they put you in charge of their "strategery."

I said this a while back and it's worth repeating.

SG organizers are an arm of the statewide political machine that is currently in power. Those powers are funding Graves for congress.

If the SG area polls in favor of Dan Claitor then they will NOT put this on the December ballot. Spring 2015 at the earliest.

If nothing else it's going to be invalidated by the effect of the annexations. You can't vote to create a city based on boundary lines that no longer exist.

There are issues with the petition, but that really isn't one of them. It was just a petition, not an exact legal mechanism. They just have to be reasonably close.

So in theory a city could annex a piece of property every time a petition is started to form a new city and redefine the boundaries and invalidate any petition drive, right?
