The magnet schools are a symptom of a larger problem. Most magnet parents wouldn't dare send their kids to their regularly assigned schools. Great education shouldn't depend on luck or racial quotas for admission.

St. George pays a larger sum of property taxes per capita than Baton Rouge. Fact.

Prove it with a link to a credible source.

Not a single commercial property of the largest 10 property taxpayers in East Baton Rouge Parish is domiciled within the SG area. Page 487

I have noticed a definite pattern that people who live in and support the SG incorporation talk out their arse when it comes to taxes and budgets and they hope no one calls them on it.

St. George isn't part of incorporated Baton Rouge. You realize this, right?

Which to me as an outsider is why it makes no since for Baton Rouge to care. St. George isn't and hasn't been part of Baton Rouge so Baton Rouge isn't losing anything if they form a city there. St. George would still be paying parish taxes. Or is Baton Rouge just scared that they'd have to compete with St. George? I don't know but they sound mad.

No, idiot, he didn't. He said "property taxes per capita." That means total property taxes divided by the number of people. You really are dumb.

In case you are too slow on the uptake to comprehend, I was making a baseless claim in response to Asgard's statement that St. George pays less taxes.

Is there anything more racist that you've heard in the St. George discussions than his argument? And, people have the nerve to say St. George is a racist movement.

I'm not sure you know what you meant. It's apparent you don't comprehend financial information, especially financial terms when it comes to taxes.

You really had to dig deep to find that one.

Good job, John.

Yet it's still a point that you can't dispute.

It means that they aren't willing to admit that money is flowing from the unincorporated tax base to the incorporated tax base.

Also, from a an education perspective, the percentage of kids in private schools in St. George is high. This is a like a built in subsidy to the EBR school system since there are no costs to educate these kids even though the taxes are collected.

This is also why the people running St. George Catholic School voiced opposition to the incorporation. The shitty school system in EBR is the best thing that could happen to the big business that is the parochial school system.

Here's another one:

quote:

The St. George petition started because the people in SE BR didn't want to share a school system with people who largely don't give a rat's arse and it shows. This is undeniable, you can call people racist for pointing it out, but it is a fact.

You disagree with the point, so disprove it.

If it is untrue, why would St. George leaving cause financial problems in Baton Rouge?
