I do not view southern generals as enemies. I view them as tragic figures who were victims of Americans inability to legislate away slavery in the early days of the republic. The civil war was destined to happen when we kicked the can down the road when formulating the constitution.
You think it's just easy to say "sure" when the military comes and asks you to fight against the very state where you are from, where your family lives, your loved ones, your friends?
It's not an easy answer.
I do not think I could have answered yes if I had been put in that situation.

You are just going to keep diverting away from the point.
If you were not a white nationalist i am sure more people here would call you on your racial obsessions. But you are most of their cup of tea.
To me this is about treason. The racial aspect is secondary.

Why wasn't Lee hung as a traitor?

Honor southern heritage in museums. It is important. But for we patriots of the United States and not just our home state or region that stuff has no place on flags or monuments.

it's funny, the very people who fought against the South were more forgiving of the former Confederates than today's keyboard SJW's posting from their Chinese iPhones.

Depends. Were they traitors who led troops against the united states? That is the core issue for me.
US forces, who owned slaves, engaged in warfare against Britain. Were they traitors?

My family has been in Louisiana longer than the state has been a part of the U.S. Of course I'd have loyalty to Louisiana. Does that mean I'm not a "patriot" like you?

Certain to bring in more inhabitants and visitors....

The Nazis sued for peace. Doesn't mean we didn't hang some of their folks. Why didn't the north hang Lee and his generals if they were considered traitors?

According to some on here you should be expected to use deadly force against your family and friends if ordered to by the Federal government in Washington, DC. Otherwise you are a traitor.

They are traitors by any definition. Hell NIH himself practically thinks all dems are traitors. Having differing political opinion = traitor... But taking up arms against the country is fine?

The state of Confederate General Robert E. Lee, shown in this file photo, will be taken down with two other Confederate monuments after a Fifth Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals ruling on Monday, March 6, 2017.(David Grunfeld, NOLA.com | The Times-Picayune)
quote:
Mayor Mitch Landrieu's office said that a request for proposals will be issued within the next day to obtain bids for a company to remove the monuments, which will be stored in a city-owned warehouse until it's determined what will happen to them.
In addition to Lee's statue, the monuments slated for removal are Confederate Gen. P.G.T. Beauregard at the City Park entrance near Esplanade Avenue and the statue of Confederate President Jefferson Davis in Mid-City.
Also slated for removal is the Battle of Liberty Place monument near the foot of Iberville Street, although it has been treated separately from the other three because it was previously moved from Canal Street for a federally funded transportation project. It honors a white separatist-led skirmish to overthrow the Reconstructionist leadership of New Orleans.
I have never seen a more ignorant thing in all my life.
In the communist manifesto published in Congress in 1963-to warn us.
Removing HISTORY/statues was a part of the goals. This won't solve anything and ya'lls democratic idiotic assholes should be impeached and removed from office.
30 and 31

You had legless, armless veterans from both sides of the war attend ceremonies and reunions together, and displayed unbelievably powerful sentiments of reconciliation. The very people who were MOST affected by the war have LESS hate for southern soldiers than people in 2017.
It's absolutely stunning.
