You are no different than a liberal wanting to ban things.

The defining feature of modern western life, is how we've all become islands to ourselves, with few if any obligations to the people around us, or to society as a whole. One of the best and most selfish examples of this is drug use. We say its their right to get high, and that it does no harm, but we don't consider the obligation these people have to themselves, to be something, and the obligation they have to society, to do something. And we don't consider how society declines as a whole, because of our individual actions.

Russian thinkers developed the idea of Sobornost in the 19th century, it was a reaction to Western ideas about freedom, and solving what they saw as a problem.

The Russians believed that our absolutist ideas about personal freedom were damaging our society, and that we would lose the ability to act collectively, and defend ourselves from internal and external threats, because we would lose our sense of connection to each other.

Sobornost, "the term expresses the need for co-operation between people at the expense of individualism, on the basis that opposing groups focus on what is common between them."

It's not that they have a collective culture, they don't, it's not East Asia, but they are very connected to each other in a way that is completely alien to Westerners. There's an understanding of how ones actions impact other people.

We did think that way once, RE Lee famously said that duty was the highest virtue. And that we should all aspire to do our duty, in all things.

You're not a conservative. You're an authoritarian. You must have loved the covid mandates and the jackboots that enforced them. You are liberal scum.

Insurance rates going up as a result. How much money do we lose letting criminals do whatever they want?

How does Sobornost play into rampant societal alcoholism fueled by massive consumption of vodka?

Why would anyone want to copy the Russian system?

In what way does making an activity illegal stop it from happening? Making guns illegal doesn’t stop gun murders. Making alcohol age restricted doesn’t stop underage drinking. Making pot illegal doesn’t stem its use. It’s one thing to make the case why people shouldn’t use drugs. It’s another to expect government bans on an activity to actually result in significant changes to people engaging in that activity.

Rejoice boomers. You get to keep drinking and beating your wives while keeping the big bad weed illegal.

There are a lot of Boomers currently using some form of marijuana. Boomers were the original love, peace and dope generation and a lot of them still partake.

It says everything that you won't deal with the idea. And that you appear to hate it.
