For whatever reason, I’ve always loved the sound of the National Anthem of the USSR when hearing it played at the Olympics. I also like the Canadian anthem as well.
I ran across the Red Army Choir singing our National Anthem and thought I’d share.

Just listened to it, it's kind of disturbing to hear a definite Soviet sound to our national anthem.

Russian national anthem is the best.
2nd best is French.
USA is somewhere way ahead of Canada.

They play it at midnight every New Years after the Presidents speech and you can't help but respect it.

Many people in the country feel differently but for a few minutes after midnight we are all one.

Edit: yep, didn't watch OP's video so my post makes zero sense. Thought it was Russia's anthem. Don't care and KAG

If you don't recognize that music as superior to the US national anthem then you probably liked disco in the 70s.

The Star Spangled Banner wasn’t the best choice.

Musically, the Battle Hymn of the Republic is a much more appealing.

The Russian anthem sounds like part of a movie score for a Cecil B Demille movie.

The music is very simple in both cases. But they didn't have much to go with domestically. The best music was all being produced in Europe. A lot of US songs were just different lyrics set to British tunes.

It was the same with literature. All US music, art and literature was considered inferior because it was. That's why the rich in the US sent their kids on 'The Grand Tour'.

Hell, the US didn't have a great novelist until Mark Twain and that was 100 years after the founding.

Russia has a huge artistic history, specifically in orchestra, ballet, and literature. Their stuff that came out in the early cold war was fantastic and actually better than anything the US was putting out.
