Stacey Abrams speaks very well. I'm sure the speech will be full of typical Dem untruths, but her delivery won't be a problem.

That was my suspicion. Why would they even want to risk the optics of throwing someone out there that can't form a coherent sentence?

She is for mass transformation of our country and if she had her way it would have started with Georgia. What miss Harris wants is the same with this one.

It probably stands to reason that we would need to agree about what makes a good speaker. Is it charisma, is it delivery, is it simply being able to speak grammatically and not using ethnic speech, is it actual content, is it veracity, what makes a good speaker?!?! I fully expect her speech to be full of platitudes, inaccuracies, and pandering.

Take her qualifications and make her a white man and she would not have a law degree from Yale. Fact.

Maybe.

Her undergrad is from Spelman, which admits better classes than LSU, and she graduated magna cum laude. She was named a Harry S. Truman scholar and got her masters from the University of Texas at Austin. Getting into Yale Law form there isn't exactly a massive leap.

I'm not advocating her beliefs, I'm just pointing out she speaks well and has an impressive resume - affirmative action or not.

Please clarify 'admits better classes than LSU.' I don't quite understand what you're saying.

If we are to be led down the wrong road as a country at least it will be by a great articulate woman of color.

Well I'm pretty sure most in this thread assumed she'd be a terrible speaker because of her race/politics. I understand the stereotype, but it doesn't really fit Abrams.

The class profile at Spelman has higher middle 50% SAT scores than the classes admitted at LSU, for instance. I'm trying to give folks some perspective on Spelman since it's a liberal arts college. It's an all female historically black college, but as far as HBCUs go, it's the top ranked HBCU. It's a good school.

A bit off topic from the making fun of stacey abrams,

but did the republicans have a response to Obama's Sotu?

I just don't remember these things ever happening before.

Don’t like her but she’s way better spoken than Kemp. It’s not even close

Pretty sure there was an in-game thread last year.

You're comparing apples to oranges. You've taken away 50% of the competition since it's a females-only college. And that's before you consider that it's blacks-only. I'm quite certain that you can't use such skewed stats.

You're clueless.

The average person getting into Spelman is more intelligent than the average person getting into LSU. Plain and simple.

Why would someone who was born in America need to use "ethnic" speech you fool?

According to PrepScholar.com...
Spelman has an average SAT of 1141,
LSU has an average SAT of 1181.

So Spelman is a pretty good school, but it doesn't admit better classes than LSU.
