If he was seriously wounded in a place like Ukraine, wouldn't he go to Germany? There's a pretty long list of US installations throughout Europe and Germany might be the most robust.

Doubt he’s been anywhere near an active combat zone in awhile. It’s more likely he was having a sex change than being wounded in combat.
