Holy inflation, Batman!

quote:

It was a not-so-happy meal.

An enraged McDonald’s customer says the fast food franchise is no longer affordable for ordinary Americans, calling the company’s contemporary prices “crazy.”

“So, I get there’s a labor shortage, I get there’s wage increases and a number of other things,” Idaho man Christopher Olive began in a viral TikTok clip, which has recently resurfaced.

“But $16? $16 for a burger, a large fry and a drink? It’s just crazy!” the flabbergasted content creator complained, panning to his itemized receipt from a McDonald’s restaurant in the city of Post Falls.

The video was original posted on social media last December, but has now gone viral again after McDonald’s recently reported an increase in revenue directly influenced by a “strategic” hike in menu prices.

In the comments section of of Olive’s, viewers voiced their frustration with the price of the fast food.

“It’s officially not convenient or affordable anymore,” one moaned.

“Companies know they can get these prices now so they’ll never go back,” a second commiserated, saying the glory days of cheap fast food were over.

I just paid $16 and change for a double cheeseburger and small chocolate shake at Shake Shack.

Now, it was a pretty damn good burger. But even so, $16 is kind of crazy.

I can't say when the last time I paid for a McDonald's meal.

Maybe a biscuit here or there, but damn... I never eat that micro-sized tasteless crap anymore.

Not from me.

If more people didn't pay it, places would either close or drop prices. ECON 1001

You can get a Whataburger with cheese, Med drink and fries for about $9 in Houston. Who pays this in these cities?

As competitive as that space is it is just the cost of doing business in 2023, being forced to treat part time employees like career associates and paying a zillion different taxes cost money and they can only get it from one place, your wallet.

That is the the apps are your friend.

There are different deals on the app all day and many different locations deals change daily.

Right now My Mcdonalds I can get a Big Mac meal for $6 or 4 for $5 with a double cheese, 4 pc mcnugget, sm fries and sm drink.

It's like doubling hourly pay would have some kind of doubling affect. Lefties really are worthless economically, and the Right will obviously fail on taking advantage of driving this message home to teach the populace the result from their calls to increase minimum age.

From a business perspective, if I have people wrapped around my building waiting for my product, I will charge whatever the frick I want until such time as my traffic decreases.

How's that Inflation Reduction Act going?

Is this a good time to remind people that members of Congress voted themselves a per diem for food?

I can't help but wonder if the people complaining about the high prices weren't the same ones pushing for a $15 minimum wage?

My God! Can you imagine that one thing leads to the other?

What we need to do is raise the minimum wage so that people can afford those value meals.

I would guess the stores around me have lower overall revenue.
