Hell, we're still waiting on our refund check on our taxes from the IRS for last year.

You aren't alone. The IRS is inexplicably slow, even with simple returns, filed on paper by mail.

I still don't understand really what this is. Is it a SS stimulus?

I just saw in the news those with children will get another stimulus.

Are these social security payments in a few weeks-- payments separate from the COLA payraises? Who qualifies?

It's nothing different, it's just the way the payment dates fall. People are getting the October payment early (in September) because the 1st falls on a Saturday.

Here's the schedule LINK
See how all the other months have an SSI payment on the 1st, except for May and October? They are getting the October payment in September.

This also only applies to SSI, not Social Security. This has nothing to do with regular Social Security payments and it's not anything extra, it's just a difference in the pay date.

SSDI payments are direct deposit on the 1st, 2nd, 3rd or 4th Wednesday of each month, depending on your birthdate, the same schedule as regular SS. My dad was born on 28th of the month and gets his SS the 4th Wednesday, as does my cousin born on 31st and he’s on SSDI. The amount is based on your earnings and the recipient is enrolled in Medicare.

SSI is separate from those two, for disabled persons without enough work credits to qualify for SS or SSDI. This amount is a flat rate determined by SSA and tfw recipients are on Medicaid.

Correct, and to add to that, SSI is for people 65 or over, who make less than $841 per month (based on the state of residence). You have to be really, really poor to receive this...or have certain disabilities.

Social security is such a scam and needs to be abolished at once.

Or at least there should be an opt out option for anyone who doesn't want it
