In just 17 days, eligible recipients for Supplemental Security Income will receive the first of two payments for the month of September, totaling up to $1,652.
The first payment for eligible individuals, worth $841, will be given on Sept. 1, while the second one, worth the same amount, will be given at the end of the month. September is one of three months when recipients receive two payments, with the others being April and December, according to the Social Security Administration.
Eligible couples who qualify for the maximum amount of SSI will receive payments of $1,261 on Sept. 1 and Sept. 30, while an "essential person" will receive $421 on the same dates.
Social Security payments will likely increase in 2023 due to growing inflation rates, according to analysts. However, some people may earn less than what they currently receive due to the increased payments placing the recipients in a higher tax bracket.
Where did this come from? People are UNDERPAID compared to inflation with their SS check amounts; but what does this mean?

it also means you are on medicaid

Per a convo I had yesterday with an elderly lady yesterday, SS is going up 10% at the end of this month which in the grand scheme of things is junk, but it's better than nothing.

It's also a dump of more liquidity into the market (although nowhere near as much as the stimmy checks).

Supplemental Security Income is not Social Security.

Supplemental Security income (SSI) is typically for people with physical or mental disability.

Yeah, now by 2034 or something they will be broke. As we send Ukraine a billion a month.
So I look at it this way, and reply to the medicaid comment.
If you are 62 get it while you can.

I believe I saw some one say in an article that they did in fact take funds from Social Security to give to the WAR

Joe Biden says he's using the $33 billion of your money to fund Ukrainian pension and social security.
While Americans can't buy gas or groceries and can't even get their own pensions and social security funded.
And the GOP voted for this.
Not exactly but still shitty

Hell, we're still waiting on our refund check on our taxes from the IRS for last year.

And I did and didn't have one bad feeling about it.

I did November 19, 2021...Enough to pay for my new jeep note each month.

SSI payments are made on the 1st of every month.
But if the 1st falls on a Saturday, Sunday, or legal holiday, the payment is made on the first business day BEFORE the 1st.
September 1, 2022 is a Thursday so that is the regular payment. October 1, 2022 is a Saturday, and therefore that month's payment is made on September 30.
SSDI works the same way except payments are made on the 2nd, and since 9/2 is a Friday and 10/2 a Sunday, those recipients will also get two payments.
BTW this almost always happens in December since 1/1 is New Year's Day which is a Federal holiday.

So it is only for Democrats.

My favorite true SSI story was about 30 years ago. A woman worked as a teller in a large bank. She filed for disability because she can no longer work because she's allergic to the big artificial trees in the lobby.

I just saw in the news those with children will get another stimulus.
Are these social security payments in a few weeks-- payments separate from the COLA payraises? Who qualifies?

Who qualifies for SSI payments?
The Supplemental Security Income helps exclusively disabled, blind seniors.
You must be 65 years old, have a low income, and limited financial resources.
Your employment history and taxes don't interfere with your eligibility.
If you don't have more than $2,000 in assets as an individual, or $3,000 as joint filers, you qualify for SSI.

It seems that at least 1 out of every 5 minority woman has one too.
