I’m arguing against anyone who thinks the United States should have any say in who governs any other nation.
While I agree in principle, it’s just not realistic. The US is the largest economy in the world. We’re going to influence the rest of the world in some way. We just need to find a better way of doing it.

So long as you hold that belief, you’re never allowed to be surprised when the US is resented, reviled, and/or hated abroad.

We have zero justification for the level of meddling we undertake. And we aren’t even good at it.

All of this is overstated and over exaggerated. We aren’t reviled or hated by most people.

Justification has zero to do with it.

Agreed, hence why I said we need to find a better way.

Is this like when sleepy said 70% of the people would have had the jab by the 4th of July?

As the Afghan men run and hide, the women are taking up arms to fight the Taliban:

The fact that Afghanistan is falling into Taliban hands so quickly is proof that we never should have occupied the country to begin with, and anything past establishing a base of operations to seek out and kill bin Laden and immediately abandoning it after he was taken out has been an immense waste of blood and taxpayer money.

Yep. They have no desire for freedom as we know it.

Justification has everything to do with it. Our foreign policy’s presumption of omnipotent power is one of the worst things about this country and the reason we create infinitely more geopolitical problems than we solve.

The means of our mingling is immaterial. The fact we do it at all is the problem

This is a silly thought process. It assumes an end state of utopia that is impossible the same as progressives do with their nonsense ideas. Grow up

What? No one said anything about utopia.

The internal operations of other countries is none of our business, nor should it be.

Sure, it shouldn’t be but it is, and that’s a reality that is inescapable. Until the United States ceases to exists or is so weak that no on gives a shot then that’s just the way it is. So we can figure out a better way or continue to wage war on a global scale. Pick your poison bro.

Shining example of a false dichotomy. Which do you work for—DoD or the State Department?

I can’t even imagine thinking that the United States constant military interventions and/or our nation-building/coup activities are “inescapable”. They don’t ever work, and the reason they don’t is because we have no business engaging at all. It never will work, because we have no business engaging at all. It will never be embraced by the host country, because we have no business engaging at all.

No one, anywhere on earth, wants foreigners imposing their ideals and system of government.

The only way it has ever worked is colonialism. Meaning a boot on the throat of the natives.

In the end that doesn't work as the juice isn't worth the squeeze.

If you’ve read my posts in this thread you’d see that’s exactly what I’m implying. The US has a massive amounts of soft pier to export around the world and we’ve ignored for at least a generation
