That may seem backwards.
It isn't though.
Here's the cycle: Messaging effectively requires some semblance of cooperation. As long as news networks and major papers are not willing to cooperate at all with Trump, there could not be a less effective medium for messaging.
Yet messaging is virtually all news outlets now do. So with Trump reciprocating animus, they are left with no primary source. As 2nd and 3rd party sourcing become more treacherous, they are forced to in effect concocting a message. As the audience picks up on that, media credibility will take major hits . . . even from previously loyal followers.
