Did you feel the executive branch had too much power when Obama was president?
Posted on 12/14/17 at 3:18 pm to 337Tiger19
its good because lowering taxes spurs the economy and...oh wait, our economy is kicking arse.

That is some communist level thinking. What is the government doing to earn that money other than just sitting there waiting for daddy to die?

What about the people who would mind? Are they not worthy of consideration? Or is your world view the only one worthy of consideration?

However, I’m about to graduate from LSU with a next December with degree in Poli Sci and a concentration in Government and Policy and sights on a tier one law school, and for the life of me, I can’t understand this. Forgive my naivety on conservative policy, but can anyone convince me why this tax bill is a good thing in any way? To me, all it seems like is Trump selling his base a piece of legislation that will only hurt them and their children in the long run along with a massive hole in the deficit to be blown that doesn’t sound like something conservatives and tea party members would be excited about. So why is everyone so eager to get this passed? Is it because of the hacks it takes at Obamacare, or do people generally believe the people that voted for Trump will benefit from this bill? Or is it simply just to have some sort of political “win?”
Once you actually start paying taxes, then MAYBE you'll begin to understand. Once you grasp the idea that it's YOUR money not the government's money, and they can't spend it so recklessly, then you'll be on the path. Until then, it's no use even trying to explain.

Well, you need to go back to school if you can't understand why tax cuts are a good thing...Wow, you are either brainwashed or an idiot...I'm thinking both.....

Not just the govt., he's complaining that other individuals have more than he too.
He really is a communist! Set sail for the full on fail!
Communism has never worked anywhere but hey, give these millennial's a chance with it, this time for the 1st time in thousands of years, it'll work!

my career goals lie within an interest group like the ACLU, NAACP, or Southern Poverty Law Center. Depending on the political climate; the department of justice. For which I’m a student worker at the state level currently. However, I couldn’t see myself being working in a super conservative Federal Justice department. I’ll check back in a few hours to see if there’s anything interesting I have more questions about. This thread is totally inquisitive. I enjoy hearing the other side. So please, have at it.

Maybe I'm the first to point this out, but if this is your level of writing ability, a tier one law school is likely not for you.
Ballpark, I'd guess you're more the "paralegal certification from New Hampshire State Online University" type track. Just keep it as a plan B.
I'll be willing to bet that if he was writing a brief, the content, grammar, and punctuation would be of higher quality than what he might post on a yee-haw bulletin board on a Thursday afternoon.

And as far as your opinion on the tax bill.
A majority of the country is getting a tax break with this bill. Admittedly yes, corporations are getting the majority of that tax break, but that's to incentivize companies to maintain business in the U.S. and not run off to tax havens, like Apple for instance (I bet you're using an Apple device right now actually).
Don't you think it would be better for the U.S. overall if companies like Apple elected to keep their money here, and pay taxes here? Or do you want to run them off overseas?
As far as the deficit is concerned, do you think that's more of a problem with spending or with revenue? Because the U.S. gov't currently rakes in the most revenue in history, yet we still run a ridiculously high deficit.
Also, as a student still in school with very little, if any, real world experience in the work place, your opinion of taxes holds very little weight.

Was a Mechanical engineering major; most recruiters were related to oil/gas industry at LSU. Didn’t want my career to contribute to climate change. I switched majors to help people who can’t help themselves.

When you get to be a lawyer feel free to give half of your money to the IRS. This will make you feel good about yourself.

Your current, personal ideology is such that you could never comprehend or accept the reasoning of more financially conservative points of view regarding tax cuts. Not an insult, just the truth. Works both ways. I, truly, can not comprehend a point of view that thinks its ok to continually extract money from high earners b/c they had the audacity to achieve. I'm sure it makes perfect sense to you, but I could never come to grips with it morally. To me, it's essentially theft. To you, it's charity. Just an ideological difference that really can't be overcome.
Most people come closer to my point of view as they earn their own money through their careers. Even you will be shocked at how much money you DON'T bring home. But the environments you are looking to work in will only reinforce your current view and biases. At least you are listening though.
