My caveat being that if there is an attempt to drag it out and abandon it down the line, it might look just like "gathering evidence" in the near term.
In short, we may not know for a bit whether they're serious about pursuing prosecution. But for now the police are still responding and it's still in the news, so I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt

Smart move on his behalf.
With the widespread epidemic of systemic racism nationally within the police force, I wouldn't be surprised if a bullet dislodged itself from the chamber of a firearm and struck him during questioning.

The police knew this guy's story was a hoax within hours.
They have been trolling him to get him to bury himself, while covering their own asses.

Unfortunately nothing will come of this. Poor Jussie is a victim of bigotry due to Racism, offensive insults and personal threats which occur everyday to gender shamed people of color. He is victim of Trumps America and the hatred that it’s manifests.
