By design. Psaki told us as much a few days ago when she half heartedly lamented high gas prices, but said that the "existential threat" of the climate crisis was more important.
They purposefully caused fuel prices to rise because they think it helps then end goal, frick the consequences in the mean time.

lol just a lurker....just happened upon this post and it's so incorrect I felt obliged to let him know. Likely 50% or so were shut in during covid (negative oil and all). But most of those have been returned to production. Maybe that was what he was referencing.

Remember a couple of months ago, he asked OPEC to produce more? Today, he has the audacity to ask American oil companies to reduce their prices…….both requests are pleas for relief from his own damned incompetence. Worst president ever.

I work in the oil and gas business and this statement is just totally false. Low margin stripper wells are doing the best they have done in 7 years at these prices today. No one is shutting in wells and the government isn't mandating that they do.

I’ll let Mark Levin know you got the real information. Could be his 50% was the combination of oil and gas wells.
