I’m not sure if allowing prayer and other religious activities in public school would eliminate mass murder incidents but one has to believe it couldn’t hurt.
Here’s an interesting fact... of the top 25 worst mass murders in the US only three occurred prior to 1980. There isn’t a huge difference in the types of weapons that were available for mass killings prior to 1980 versus today......something has changed in society.

I wouldn't mind seeing Christianity taught in schools again but I think it's trying to put a bandage on tumor.
The biggest issue with gun violence is inner city shootings and the vast majority of these are black-on-black crimes. Getting a little more granular we find that majority of those committed to and against black males below 30 who either grew up without positive father figures.
That situation has been exacerbated by the war on drugs and the welfare state. Legalize pot and begin severely restricting access to social programs (examples: work/volunteer/education requirements for ABAWD's or remove "emotional" and/or "behavioral" as qualifying criteria for SSI) as a solid start to changing that inner city paradigm. This issue didn't happen overnight so it won't get fixed overnight either. Anyone seriously engaging on this needs to be willing to hold the line for at least 50 years before seeing a solid trend in results.
