That’s actually the most plausible thing in this story.
The DOD is inherently political too. And it’s pretty obvious that there had been a push to make it more political recently.

It was always mildly political going back at least to MacArthur in Korea preparing to take the GOP nomination and run against Truman if Truman didn’t go along with his agenda in Korea and Japan.
It’s now entirely comprised of political appointees like all the other agencies because the GOP has allowed it to become so.
But my question is if the DOD knew about the cheating and Trump knew they had the evidence is your proposition that he couldn’t do anything about it because they were against him (which I can believe to a degree) or that he knew and ordered them to sit on the evidence for now as suggested here as part of a grand plan to… well I’m not sure what their plan was exactly?
