very true. he was trying to help her reconcile with God.

we don't have to be perfect, just without mortal sin since one's last confession.

Additionally, a condition of mercy is contrition. If you publicly advocate that sin is not sin, you are the opposite of contrite and therefore, not eligible for mercy.

Has nothing to do with purity of heart and everything to do with humility.

Wait.

A priest denied Holy Communion to a parishioner, because he did not like her politics?

And you CONDONE this behavior?
Try looking at it like a club, like the Ku Klux Klan. Let's say, you join the club, but in reality, you don't hate black people and in the public, you advocate for social justice and against white supremacy. Do you think you should then be able to show up at a cross-burning rally and be handed a torch?

They've been willing to sacrifice innocents in exchange for social justice and bringing the USA down for decades.

Communion isn't just a silly ritual we do at Mass. You are receiving Christ, body and blood, soul and divinity, and you must be properly disposed to do so.

And abortion isn't a mere political disagreement. He didn't withhold Communion because she wants lower taxes or drilling on the north slope.

quote:

Catholic politicians who vote for laws or fund bills that promote abortion should not present themselves for Holy Communion because they have committed the grave sin of formally cooperating with a grave evil. Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger (the future Pope Benedict XVI) said in 2004

The full treatment is as follows:

But in this instance the rule is clear.

You obviously don’t understand the early church. She would never have been allowed through the doors.

It is impossible not to doubt the conversion of a Christian who supports abortion. I find it hard to believe anyone could give themselves over to Christ and still support such an action.

This failed Catholic is a huge Archbishop Vigano fan, and considers Jesuit Bergoglio a heretic.

In fairness, even a lot of Catholics don't understand the Eucharist. A nonreligious person can't be expected to know better.

I like this commentary from the Church Militant comments page:

Moral courage is what we contemplate in the third sorrowful mystery of the rosary. The parishioners at Our Lady of Perpetual Help are very blessed to have Fr. Whitney as their Shepherd.

This is true mainly for western Catholics. Those Catholics in Latin America, Africa, and Asia are far more devout and are likely the future of the Church. Those Catholics of European descent have compromised the Church and are mostly Catholics in name only now.

I don’t think he really cares if she is democrat Republican or independent.

I think he takes issue with her supporting legalization of a mortal sin and perpetuation of a genocide. What does that have to do with politics?

Does she “support abortion”, or does she simply take a pro-choice stance on the issue?

Because a single senator from Alaska has absolutely zero power or authority to prevent, stop, impede, or otherwise curb any abortion. Not sure what the Church would have her do.

I've purposely sat in the pews for many, many years without receiving communion because I've held a blackness in my heart for something with which I'd not confessed to or sought forgiveness for in my prayers.

I quit going to communion for a few years prior to leaving to join the Methodist church. Though I have disagreements with the Catholic church on some issues, I still respect it and support it's right to set its own rules.

When I attend with family, I present myself for a blessing out of respect for the church and my family.

It's not complicated. She's expected to stand against an act that's considered murdering a human being, a mortal sin in the Catholic church.

So nothing but say the right words? Because no action she can take whatsoever will have any impact on abortion rights anywhere on earth.

Again, she does not “support abortion”. She has stated pro-choice positions as a matter of public policy.
