Because he's going to be able to show receipts to shite all over Trump and a bunch of Trump-adjacent people and it would be aggregated on social media and promoted via the MSM for a bit. It may not be enough for a criminal conviction, but he has a LOT of dirt on them ripe for public consumption.

It is obvious he was doing what he was told. He has one of the highest conviction OT rates of any lawyer that has ever practiced criminal law.
