Should privacy be the Quid Pro Quo the government charges to let AI have data centers?

Westlaw upgraded their AI system bc now they borrow Claude.

Claude let's you have a "premium" account (not an "Enterprise" one mind you, but a "premium" one) for like $20 / month. It's an amazing product, and works great.

Claude also spies on you, despite the $20/month (for this fun, you get to pay a price to be the product). Don't worry. You can toggle "off" for now. I have toggled off.

If you want to avoid that, you can upgrade to $200 / month per user, and they will give you a contractual "guarantee" that they won't ever use your data. (Well until your contract expires).

Research is a lawyer's bread and butter. (A good one's). So here's this amazing research tool, that basically you can't use if you're using it for anything important. You can make all the memes you want - but seriously, don't touch it if you have any sort of professional skill.

Don't even start me on my software budget. I pay more on software than on anything else in my business - more than rent, more than health insurance, and about half of what I pay my secretary.

The AI risks as I see it are 3 fold: (1) The government has access to all this data bc all these assholes are government contractors and that's where the real $$$ is; (2) privacy (you are the product); and (3) it takes a lot of electricity and water to make all this shite work. Essentially these tech assholes (even tho yes I love you Elon, you weird quirky bastard) who seem to be fixated on this idea that they will live forever and run everything as oligarch and you will have to depend on them for everything.

Points 2 and 3 I think it is government's role to protect us from.

I think this . . . I think that since the AI Humanoids need all this land and space, we need to think big. Just banning the use of the land won't work. And their money is unlimited. But I think the government does need to step in.

If I'm ever benevolent dictator of the world, or even of this stupid state I say that we need a few things as a quid pro quo:

1-Monster Water and Energy upgrades in advance of the centers. There is no reason that the electricity lines in Louisiana shouldn't be buried, for example. If we have a hurricane there is no power for weeks. Make them pay for shite like that in addition for the swampland that they'll just make hideous anyway.

2-Government enforced privacy regulations that are binding upon both the government and these tech bros.

For the tech bros - it needs to be enshrined in legislation and enforceable by a private cause of action with treble damages and attorneys fees. They aren't scared of the cops. The cops don't even understand it. Hell, I'm a pretty smart person, and even I barely understand it.

And - nobody is reading your fricking terms and conditions, software companies. You don't have adhesion contracts, you have contracts with no set term that you can change any time you feel like. That's what a terms and conditions is. It's one sided. Plus, once you start using any software to do your job - it's not like you can stop without MAJOR problems. I'm changing all my practice management software right now and it's a fricking nightmare.

am sure that as helpful as this kind of thing can be to a lawyer, it's got to be equally as helpful to bankers, doctors, accountants, etc. Make these applicable in any state with a data center in it. You want to change your terms and conditions at will, Anthropic, well - 2 can play at that game. You can continue to use our land and resources, you just have to toggle in. Assholes.

For the Government - We need some kind of constitutional amendment keeping them out of our data. Nothing really stops these frickers, but at this point - we're all Winston writing in our notebook, and at some point, even our diaries may become illegal at this rate.

I think I would run for office based on this platform. Is such a thing possible and who in Fed Gov't is working on this now? (The Louisiana legislature is borderline retarded, but is there anyone thinking about it, or are they all fixated on how to stop New Orleans for arresting people for making them follow the rules that everyone else has to live by). Have thoughts. Can draft. What am I missing?
