Should Police Stop So Many "Routine" traffic stops?

First, let me be clear...I want a shitload of cops. But I will say that some of the traffic stops are more of a fishing trip to stumble across something bigger.
Also, I'm a little raw because I recently got a speeding ticket in an old fashioned speed trap and as a white middle aged fellow I'm screwed.
I would rather have more cops policing the neighborhoods and not fricking with people on the highways unless they are driving reckless or obviously impaired.
The people that have too dark of tint or headlights broken should be ticketed in a parking lot or something.

No. He shouldn’t have tried escaping by climbing back in his car. Stop resisting and you won’t die

Do you have an outstanding warrant? Do you intend to fight back or flee?
Don't worry.
Don't worry.

I'm all for compliance but I have a number of good, decent black friends and they have been programmed to be scared to death of the police and it being blasted all over the planet on social media and TV just stokes the embers.

I was raised to respect and obey the police...

Seems racist, bro.

Whether people think this should or should not happen, the fact is this is a way that police "profile" people of ALL races. It is a tool that has paid off for Police time after time and I think it should continue.
Profiling is an effective tool to use to subvert criminal behavior. Just ask the Israelis! They invented profiling because their lives depend on it!

In other words, stereotypes exist for a reason.

No.
I had a State Highway patrolman stop me because my “license plate frame partially obscured the state of issue.” That was after I informed him that he couldn’t stop me for not wearing a seat belt because it was a secondary reason for a stop, not primary.
It’s dumb.
Had one stop me a couple weeks ago because “your window tint may be too dark.”
frick em.

The sheriff told me that they make a lot arrests off of routine traffic stops. Not little drug charges, they hate fooling with those, but warrants to fugitives. Maybe it’s a good thing. Maybe we should get back to giving cops at least minor respect.

I guess that is the difference between folks like you and me.
I just have friends.

Follow the law and you won’t get pulled over

A lot of those "fishing trips" keep a bigger crime from happening down the road.

I don't understand why we pay cops to harass us. If they don't have anything better to do than minor traffic infractions to raise revenues, then we obviously have too many cops.
