The sad fact is that many on the Left no longer believe in Constitutional Principle

Progressives do want a direct democracy despite the fact that the current form of govt protects the minority.

Does this term ("true democracy") have any meaning in political science?

Yes, its also called a pure democracy.

So, you acknowledge that the proper terminology is "pure democracy" and not "true democracy."

Thx

I acknowledge that they are the same thing and you didn't have a clue. Everyone but you and Convert knows.

Why do you RA Hank? Youre a walking stereotype.

Quasi democracy. That pesky constitution.

Nothing quasi about it.

As best I can tell, he is using "quasi-democracy" in lieu of "constitutional democracy" and "true democracy" or "real democracy" in lieu of "pure democracy."

For the life of me, I cannot determine why he insists upon using his own made-up terminology rather than the accepted terminology of political scientists the world over.

There is also the issue of representative voting, which also doesn't occur in a real democracy.

Also completely irrelevant. Why are you moving the goal posts so much?

I can.

He's having an emotional reaction that he can't work himself through.

Define Democracy. A definition of True Democracy is irrelevant, please keep in mind.

You're already trying to use formal language and failing

You are a walking stereotype. Everything people believe about you is absolutely true.

You RA even when slinging insults yourself. No wonder the Aggie board banned you.

Go tell the Teacher someone is being mean to you Hank.

When democrats like Sharpton use the word democracy they’re using it in the context of pure democracy because that’s what they really want.

Democrats have been shitting on the concept of a Constitutional Republic for years.

Okay, show your work. What evidence is there that Sharpton meant Pure Democracy?

Would support
But nobody really wants me to rule the USA

Seriously, we have democrats saying we’re a democracy
Republicans saying we’re a republic

But again, we are a constitutional democratic republic

Having AT LEAST three parties in the mix would be ideal, but we’ve reached the point where we will have a r/d congress, and a r/d executive

That’s acceptable, IMO

But there are three branches, and judicial is now also obviously r or d

If we could find a way for the J branch to be 100% “C” (constitutional), we might actually have this all figured out

True democracies have no constitution
If you reference "pure democracy," this is correct.

True democracies have have direct vote.
Wrong.

A "pure democracy" is simply unconstrained by a constitution. It can take the form of EITHER a direct democracy OR a representative democracy.

I think that they are basically suggesting (incorrectly) that we have a "pure democracy" rather than a "constitutional democracy," with all the limitations inherent in the latter.

You’re still intentionally blurring the issue. A republic is significantly more than the broader category of constitutional democracy.

A republic, especially our republic, with its three branches and two legislative houses, was specifically designed to be a bulwark against pure democracy.

The left loves to manipulate language in order to create esoteric and exoteric knowledge diodes. Also know as Mott and Bailey logic, the left uses an outward facing definition that is defensible and an inward (in-group) facing definition that is used as a lever for power.
